This should be filed under 'layering' in the dictionary. So good!

Can't help having an "associative" day. Was the first that sprang to mind. Only missing a Tommy gun.

AAS, your shoes did not go unnoticed.

Wet, cold and frikkin' miserable today in Shanghai. The kind of day that could definitely do with a few splashes of colour. I was happy to oblige.

Possibly watching a little less t.v. would help bring some clarity to your mind.

At least you are cold and miserable in Shanghai. Being cold and miserable in Ningbo is much worse...

Strange day - thumb up for AAS; thumb way down for Coxsackie.

Guess you can't please 'em all.

In retrospect maybe the lower half doesn't quite gel with the upper.

I see the coherent tension you sometimes shoot for, and for which you applaud other posters. This is my view, for what it's worth. The shirt was always going to divide opinion, not least because it is multi-coloured, one of which picks up the vest almost exactly. And perhaps too poplin-looking. Wool tie good, but plain may have been better with the herringbone weave jacket. And the chinos may be thought just too casual, or perhaps summery, for the top block. Brown or gray flannel and there could be no complaint - but you don't always feel like wearing flannel. And, hey, you're in a beautiful Oriental garden, you're warm, you have dressed to respect yourself and everyone you meet, and this is a hard school.
