I hate tux.

Why? I have hard enough time figuring out how to dress well in suits.

Tux is just another challenge that I am not ready to tackle yet.

I'd say a tux is one of the easiest ways to dress, because there is so little variation. Everything has to conform to a basic set of rules: Black/midnight blue, peak/shawl lapels in satin/grosgrain, jetted pockets, no splits in the back, 1 button/double breasted, wear a white double cuff shirt, black bow tie, waistcoat/cummerbund and black captoes, and wear it after 6pm/sunset. If you're looking at a tux and it doesn't conform to these rules it's not really appropriate. You have to choose for yourself whether you're ok with that. I don't mind a little deviation, as long as the basic details are there.

Thanks for the compliments/thumbs guys, it was a great night!

All sorts of new (to me) gear today; some of which is not very SF approved (with good reason I'm sure). I was concerned that even though it is an ocbd the shirt felt a little too "city" for everything else. Thoughts and feedback more than welcome.

Took a risk with the pocket square (it isn't so bright IRL) for which I fully expect to receive a thrashing, but it's the only way I'll learn :D

pants are actually green, note the invisible tie bar

I like the new shirt and tie.  The fabric on the jacket seems nice, but I wish the lapels were higher and wider.

This is a great outfit.  I love the colors and textures.  They mix very well.  I like the coat a lot, but I think it may be too small for you in the waist and the length.  Pity.  I think the shirt is fine.

I like the square, just not with that tie.  What's the deal with this "vest"?  Is it a vest?

x-post from challenge

Brunch and art galleries.  The pocket square is red seersucker.  It was 50 degrees in NYC today.  I got kind of excited.

It's a cardigan made from French terry--Ted Baker, not one of my favorites but deeply discounted at Nordstrom Rack. It was cold today…it's been really, really, really cold all winter.

What elegance! Congratulations ... I love that shade of blue ... I've got one similar to the fabric.

@Gianni Cerutti - I love you, but can you please start using the 'Spoiler' tags, and also group your single line replies into one message at a time? Just quoting whole sets of images makes the thread hell to use on mobile devices...

Unless it's Butler.
