My Anglo sensibilities were also influenced by NYC February weather - light brown shoes on a drizzly, rainy February day seems a bit farfetched, but, as today's suit is very lightweight, I'll wear it with brown shoes when the sun shines warmer and brighter.

funny we both wore something very similar today:

Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered to post since nothing new to be seen from me here.

It's been while since I posted, I have been on a business trip since Sunday and only returned to work today. Looks like I have some catching up to do in this thread - looks to be a lot of great posts over the last week.

Anyway, here's today - a rather CBD look for me.... (and with a left shirt sleeve that appears to be camera shy smile.gif )

Edit: Navy suits seems to be THE shit today... icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Thanks for the feedback Dudesman. What type of tie would you suggest for this fit?

Nothing wrong with the colour, matches the jacket very well. I just don't like that tie in particular:embar:

As said, the colours in your tie work well. I imagine brown, maroon, maybe burgundy, certain shades of blue and perhaps even some greens might work well with the jacket. I like it a lot.

@Claghorn, thank you, I'll keep the formality issue in mind. It's just unfortunate that I very rarely favour black shoes over brown, regardless of the rules.

Would it be ok to wear this navy pin stripe suit with plainer brown shoes? cap toes?

If the suit were a solid navy, then full brogues would be alright?

@Pliny: just googled him, his name is Filip Flisar. Not following the games, so I wasn't aware of him. Thank you:)  Yes, I mean the drape right by the arm pits. Closing the jacket doesn't really help, but I usually wear 3 piece suits open. The 'try on' (?) jacket fit pretty much perfectly, maybe a tad snug at the chest, so we added a bit and I wish we hadn't.

@Clapeyron: hahaha, even the socks are very similar!!

@Spandexter: interesting shirt, very nice

@Pingson: cool suit. I'm still ambiguous to roped shoulders

I think the chest looks great, actually. It's teh drape.

Perhaps this explains the sensibility in the first place, although waders might be more apropos of late.

Roped shoulders are definitely a very subjective matter. I used to be on the fence about them too, but that was before I had actually worn any roped suits or jackets. I am not ambiguous at all now - I am definitely a full roped shoulder "convert". I find that it flatters me like no other shoulder expression I have tried and will go for that in all my the future commissions where I have the choice to do so....

These look like good wedding ties for me with this suit and a french cuffed white shirt.

I'd say yes on both counts. And that's a good way to think of balancing elements in clothing. You could move a bit here or move a bit there. Dark brown would have worked fine with that get up. Remove the stripes and maybe the vest, and brogued wingtips or captoes would work fine.

Something like this would've been perfect.

You can never own too many blue jackets. You can never own too many brown ties. And you can never own too many pairs of gray trousers.
