A beautiful coat and everything is impeccable as always. Your blog, BTW, has become one of my favourites amongst SF posters - I like the fact that you aren't afraid to discuss your clothes (and more) with people who ask questions.

BTW, I'm still on sabbatical for another 5 months and I don't miss the teaching! When I start teaching again in the autumn, I'll be back posting fits more regularly. I think we share a love three-piece suits at least, although your style is more restrained than mine, and probably much the better for it!

If it's me you are referring to, the tie is from Holliday & Brown, a great British tie maker that unfortunately doesn't exist anymore. It's a real pity as they produced some of my all-time favourite ties......

Thanks for the kind comments. I really would like that we re-instituted the sabbatical system here in Sweden. Going away to a different university, if only for a semester, is usually a real "vitamin injection".

You should take a peek at the Noodle Tie Thread: I just mentioned you in there for exactly this reason, and then you go and wear the tie.  Spooky.

crackup[1].gif Are you a psychic Mimo???

Actually, the very first quality tie I ever bought was a Holliday & Brown . I remember being quite stunned that it cost more than the shirt I was buying at the same time (probably paid close to £80 for the tie, and that was over ten year ago). Still have it and wear it occasionally, but it's certainly not SF approved - kind of fire engine red, it looks almost radiant in picture below, but it isn't nearly so colourful in real life. From what I understand it's a true British tie - you Brits have a thing for colourful ties, I gather. Still it ties a knot that very few ties I have tried since come even close to doing....

Ping, while your general health and well-being is important to us all, the threat of losing your voice does not preclude you from posting here, phew!

Nice work nod[1].gif

Lovely series of ties there. I've a few new ones on the way, courtesy of Luxeswap! But for now, its the usual suspects:

I like the tie as well, ETB, but I noticed it doesn't quite jive with the rest of your CBD outfit. Noticed this a few other times as well.

If you are in a position where you've got to choose between interesting ties and internal coherence, and you choose the nifty ties, I can't fault you for that. But if it's possible to exchange the suit for a blazer and trou, it'd frame those ties to great benefit.

I hear you, but in my position, at my age (under 40), nobody wears blazers and trousers to work. Certainly not in my office, in Dublin city in general, or in any of the client companies I go into. Over here, SC and trousers would be seen as "too casual" for the workplace.

So I have to wear suits. And all I can do is work around that - so make sure the suit is tailored, wear a PS (which nobody does over here either) and have a nice tie.
