Unfortunately I can’t think of anything in my wardrobe I would wear them with, so my bank account will remain intact.  But you’ve left me with a bad case of unsatisfied shoe lust.
Life is hard.

Oh thanks. Was trying a knot big enough for the spread but #fail

both the lightning and the fit today are mediocre at best. Have had a pretty crazy day. I can only say that a political scientist would have field day with what is happening at the governmental level in Denmark right now smile.gif

Kulata, was just about to mention the collar in response to Butch: yes, the knot is big (and the tie is wide) in keeping wtih the extreme cutaway.  But you're wearing quite a soft, country-style jacket and I'm thinking maybe a less "city" shirt might be the solution.  But I am also "digging the overall vibe".  Top marks for tie/PS contrast.  Next time don't edit your photo so much to compensate for the shitty light...it makes it too brightly coloured and fuzzy.  Just get more light. ;)

The lighting may be poor, but the fit is perfect in this small detail...navy neat on grey suit with understated opposite-ing in a brownish PS: what's not to love?

I will fix your country's politics for money.  Or shoes also.  I have had great success in this area, e.g. Iraq.  No.  Wait, never mind.  I do slogans as well, though.

The shirt is supposed to be Chambray according to Luxire
post #69817 of 78717

Strange combo to my mind, a chambray extreme cutaway.  I think you could use something more simple here, or the good old OCBD.

Not a big fan of OCBD and there are lots good shirtmakers with chambrays that have extreme cutaway collars. Personal taste I guess...

I’m going to inquire over on the suede thread regarding what people there think is the best style of suede footwear for a man who mostly wears conservative suits.

I’ll tell them you and InStiches sent me.

However, I have found over the years that it’s important to learn how to distinguish between a genuine wardrobe need and a mid-life crisis …

Afternoon Gents, the all seeing eye is watching you.

A2 - literally almost everything works with suede
post #69823 of 78717
Start with dark brown captoe oxfords for the conservative suits. Then show us some other types of outfits, and we'll select the suede shoes. smile.gif

Suede has nothing to do with crisis. The lack of suede does.

And you can't go wrong with a dark brown suede oxford captoe for conservative suits.

While I know that there are books out there by very reputable people that claim that a spread collar somehow needs to be "filled" (to use a verb at least one author uses) by a larger knot, I honestly think that the claim needs to be taken with a grain of salt.

There are always more variables in the equation in any given case than this "rule" acknowledges.  In your case, for example, the wide lapel plays a role in the overall effect of that part of the ensemble.

I like the sport coat, by the way.
