@timotune - nice fit. next level tie to picture matching.

@Pingson - great looking DB, works well for you. is the tie hober per chance?

@Holdfast - excellent blue monochrome. you should have done that in last weeks challenge.

Nope, Vanda......

Running late, so I didn't have time for a more composed shot (tie needs to be tightened, one of my pocket flaps is tucked in). Le sigh...

Was that the navy suit/tie challenge? I see what you mean, yes... but IIRC I wanted to show rudals a particularly English interpretation of navy suit/tie that day, by using an old-school tie. More often than not, I view the challenges as free licence to do something experimental or unusual with patterns or items by playing with the theme rather than necessarily skewing my choices towards a more typical SF-approved/contest-winning entry. For example, with both the initial "brown" & final "green" entries that I submitted for the current challenge, I added an arbitrary further restriction of using the same colour for jacket & trousers as I wanted to see if the lighter jacket/darker trouser theme was easier with that extra parameter. It was, to some degree. But I wouldn't have applied that extra restriction if I was just going for my best fit within the theme; I'd have used mid-grey trousers instead.

I realise the above shot is sort of washed out, but the tie can be seen better below.

The suit is very nice but it would have been better with a something other than that tie. That tie is...just hideous.

Rudals,

Shirt and jacket work, tie and jacket work, but tie and shirt.... You've got two sets of bold stripes.....

A brown neat would have been perfect for this?

Forgive me for the mac store quality lighting. I'm liking my trusty cutaway and 3/2 roll. :)

Depends on the medallion/pattern size, I think (smaller better, given the shirt...get collar points under the blazer!).

Small thoughts for your consideration: IMO, smaller, closer spacing stripe shirt would have worked better (agree with Claghorn on the two bolds being a bit jarring).

Also: a previous poster had a similar repp tie with two large stripes (brown and blue, I think, an Aussie poster). I was surprised that I liked them. I feel like the third stripe (the thin light one), however, is a stripe too far. But the base, I like. Shantung-ing it then?

Indeed. I didn't wearing this tie thinking it would have universal appeal; quite the opposite actually. But I like to provoke every now and again. ;-)
