Bah! You've never seen Hokusai-san's The Great Wave off Kanagawa until you've seen it animated and splash around by the Little Einsteins.

Hello gents. Question regarding the trousers (I don't ask in a demeaning way as I consider the outfit quite splendid). I have a flannel pair that seemingly fits very much identical. I am considering getting mine tapered because from the side views they appear to have a flared, almost bellbottom cuff. My pants measure the same width from thigh down to cuff. Perhaps it's the camera angle or the break causing the pant to look that way. What's the opinion on this style of cuff opening? TIA for your advice.

Everythings’s black, white, or grey today, with a touch of silver in the tie.  No reason; just felt like it.

Cheers,

Well, to be perfectly honest, the Hokusai reference wasn't that hard to get.

There's no "flare."  It must be the camera angle.

It's really just an old-fashioned "full break."   If you search the forum for "break," "trouser break," "pants break," etc., you'll no doubt find many discussions of the subject.

I like it  especially when (1) I'm dressing particularly conservatively, and (2) the trouser width (9 inches here) and the fabric will accommodate it.

Cheers,

Ac

That's a full break on a largeish bottom relative to your shoe size, and probably relative to the knee on the trousers. You can have a full break with a lot more taper than that. It's not a very SF look, though I don't mind it if it's proportionate to the jacket and to the shoes.

Pretty little box arrived yesterday from the House of Drake.  Mmmm.

And no, that' not a Windsor, just a bulky Cashmere tie bigstar[1].gif
