I can agree with you for a tie, I have a wooly grey one that I could have worn. I don't subscribe to the opinion that peaks can't be casual. Peaks have become almost a uniform for me, which is to the point now that I have more peak jackets than notch.

Gotta know the rules before you can break them I suppose.

stitches, that's awesome. Of course, I'm on the record as a fan of patterned squares, solid brown jackets, and BDs without tie, so I would think that. We also have similar glasses frames.

Raw silk tie, mother of pearl cufflinks and iGent-staple double monks, below.

P.S. Is from our very own @Tirailleur1's Post Imperial.  See what I did there?

Lovely ensemble really.
As for GWAPE, amazing piece. I hope you are allowed up close and it's not hidden behind glass. We saw it in its "hometown" Den Haag (where the Mauritshuis is located, not where Vermeer lived) some years ago plus some other work across Europe (National Gallery, Prado, Louvre, Pinakotek, ...), Hannibal Lector got his choice artist right. ;-)
If you haven't watched it yet I highly recommend the film with Colin Firth and Scarlett Johansson.

GWAPE is behind glass for security reasons, and has a gallery all to herself. One can get fairly close to her, and the freshness of the paint surface is one of the first things one notices about it - it has an immediacy that belies its 350+ years of existence.

And yes, I saw the movie, and liked it.

The security measures make sense, of course, in these times where nutters would knife or acid attack precious artwork. Glad you liked the film, loved the casting and whole atmosphere of Delft.

I like those pics Tony but you might want to consider posting outfits like that in the MC Casual thread. Details on the jacket?

I thought the Frick very tastefully displayed GWAPE. It is behind glass, yes, but their crowd control policies mean that even on the busiest of days it is not assaulted by hordes of gawkers à la Mona Lisa and a regular Joe like myself can get a good look at it.

A really marvelous work. Amazing to think that fully 1/9th of Vermeer's (non-disputed) catalogue is currently at the Frick...

So is the announcement Marriage?

Side Question, how do you like Cottonwork?  I'm working with ProperCloth currently with a few MTM shirts but always good to see what else is out there.
