HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part III - Page 4538

So after lurking, posting prematurely and lurking some more with some commentary I bring you this: Suiting transformation (which is actually not that great because I'd ideally have a tripod to snap all the pictures I want but more will come soon)

So when I first started here, these were the fits I brought to the table:

More shots (Click to show)

So I guess you could say I was trying, but didn't really get it. Well after lurking and listening to sound advice both for me and for others, I have this to show for it now:

DEEETS! (Click to show)

Please let me know how I can improve further. I KNOW I KNOW!!! My shoes needed a shine and I have since taken care of that while at the office (we have shoe shiners here?!?!)

Details of fit:

Pretty much everything you see is SS, Wool Suit with 2" cuffs. Shoes are some vintage Bostonians that I "took" from my Dad. Took the plunge on Carminas from Gentlemensfootwear so eagerly awaiting the Dark Brown Brogue and Black Captoe!

Anyways...enough rambling, comments are invited.

Also exemplary choice of tie for someone who wears blue suits within constraints of CBD: Noodles, nota bene...

It was pretty windy on the roof but I am not going to use that as an excuse. Also, I am noticing that I appear to be leaning backwards in my pictures because the phone is leaned at a slight angle against a wall and I just yell, "shoot" and that's how I take my picture. Nice feature on the Samsung Note 3. Can't wait to get my own Korean tripod.

Noodles, it's a fart joke for goodness' sake.

Coming from the nation that invented rotten cabbage as a condiment, I really thought that might register with you.

I really like the pattern on that jacket. Wish I could find one.

+1 to all this, square / squares is/are horrendous (are you wearing two?), the rest is good.

:fu:

...I just got the joke. I am a bit slow.

That's OK Noodles.  You did order a decent tie.  Next, get Murlsquirl's.  :)

You're all correct. The square was intended with the brown tie, since the pink it it coordinates with the pink design in the tie.

Applying my laniceman translation function, "horrendous" becomes "not my preference but to each his own" in normal people intercourse, which I can understand and accept.

And no, it's just one square. The dots are on the border.

^ Thanks for the compliments, Mimo. The tie is Capelli and I got it from Steve at Gentlemansfootwear a while back.

Happy belated new years, gents. After nearly 3 weeks of holiday time off, and recently single digit and below zero temps, today I put on a suit again. I have to admit, I kind of enjoyed the break from getting all gussied up.

Now back to the thousand or so posts I need to catch up on.

Good observation. I am still struggling with my weight, hence, the tightness on the jacket. The pants, I've always felt like they were a bit too baggy and a tad bit long but my ex-tailor always said they're fine. I come to find out he just didn't want to work on my stuff because they were low price and he just sent me away. Since then I found a much better tailor that I plan on visiting soon to fix this pants issue.

yeah, that first guy sucks. pants are too baggy and too long. the best tailor knows what to do without you saying a word, the second best tailor needs your input but does exactly as you ask, the worst needs your input and yet still does what he/she wants and does a crappy job of it.

----

Murlsquirl - excellent

fari - lighting makes it tough, but suit lacks shape, not flattering you and pants need a shortening imo.

Perhaps, but that is a vast improvement deserving of thumbs.

That's a huge improvement! The suit has much more shape, but it's a little too small in the waist, which can be seen from that X that's around your button. A way to remedy this would be to let out the jacket a bit, which shouldn't be too expensive. The lapels seem to be bowing as well, which indicates that your chest is too big, but it might also be caused by the fact that the waist is too narrow, as I've mentioned before. I don't know how stitchy can see that your pants are too long, as there's no full length pic. The shoes could use some polishing, they seem a little scuffed at the moment, but that's really nitpicking.

Anyway, once you make these small changes you'll have an excellent suit!

Did you sightsee in dress shoes? I move too fast for that when traveling and my feet would be killing me at the end of the day. Kudos to you.
