Really wish I didn't buy this suit in a short but ah well, what can ya do. I love how these pants drape! I'm getting the legs slimmed down though. Kind of baggy near the bottom. Might get em cuffed too, 2" or so. Thoughts?

Hard to judge length with how you took the pictures, but the pants are not bad as is. You could get them slimmed and cuffed for a cleaner look, but it's not catastrophic by any means.

That looks great, David. I love a good tan suit. The darker color of that one nice.

Orange socks?! Curious. This could be genius.

Actually if you translate something to a language that is not so widespread it'll work better, for example Armenian. I love you. Ես սիրում եմ քեզ Jack knew that English to Armenian was right but translating back to English was

Finally made my way to see our boys at the Armoury last month. I cant say enough good things about Mark and Alan's well edited offerings and fantastic service. Good thing I don't live on the island.

Ring Jacket 225 SS'11 Navy Check (Armoury) - Mark's sporting this same suit on his blog but with a different fit. I went for the slimmer casual look, while he's got the elegant YFYF thing going. GF1 exposure is not doing the fabric color justice. Check his out: http://thearmoury.tumblr.com/post/52...w-chan-gaziano
Sorley Silk Knit Blue (Armoury)
Church's Becket Monk (Church's)
Chambray 3.5" Spread (MBT)
GMT Duo (47th street)

To be entirely honest, many of the associations of colour/meaning are tenuous. I think I blogged about it some time ago. The connections they retain tend to be a function of long-standing tradition/custom rather than a deeper (?truer?) psychological function, when controlled for brightness. That is, they're somewhat self-fulfilling through custom and usage. Having said that, one of the historic associations of purple is of course with imperial power and distance, so fitting for a promotion, especially in conjunction with the formality of a peak lapel suit. This could be said to be partially countered by the playful echoing on the colour in the socks, clearly an informal touch. Calming? Perhaps in a paler, more lavender shade?

Thanks; that jacket's bespoke but I didn't really specify any particularly different lapel treatment and let Ede do their thing. I like it too; it actually softened up a bit after the first dry cleaning, which worked out well.

Thanks Parker.

I really just threw them on. I don't spend a lot of time thinking about what I wear which I think is the best way really.

Newbie questions: Are the cuffs of dress shirts supposed to fit that big over your wrists so that your watch can fit under the cuff? Or tighter on your wrist so that it doesn't slide down and show no cuff when moving around?
Thanks in advance.

Thanks. It's from an obscure, highly exclusive brand called Aitch & Em.
