MF - I really like the top here, but I wonder if it is a bit incongruous with the bottom? Maybe it is the formal color (grey) of an informal fabric (corduroy). Maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about.

Thanks, cleav!

You too CD. Looking good as well. Love that tie.

HC, I can't recall ever seeing a look quite like that on you. Way to mix it up, baby!

Not much I can do about it smile.gif I'm indifferent to keyhole or regular to be honest but it wasn't enough to make me not buy the coat.

smile.gif Thanks man, yeah not as CBD as normal, but it is summer here and the last week of work before the holiday break, so pretty relaxed in the office.

This is good, but that jacket is too good for those buttons. If it's a blazer now, make it a blazer. The trousers are also a touch short, and red socks with red shoes don't float my boat. The tie/square is very nice, and the silhouette looks good.

Thanks for the critique! I though it would work, seen as both the very bold cashmere jacket, the oxford shirt and the corduroy trousers are somewhat 'country' items, but they migh not be on the same level of formality, so I definitely see where you're coming from! Perhaps it would've been less incongruous if the trousers were pressed nicely and had a sharp crease? I (and the weather!) have abused them a bit lately, so they're more wrinkly than I'd prefer.

General question: where do corduroy trousers stand on the formality scale? I've definitely seen plenty of people wear them with a patch pocket navy blue blazer and a repp tie for example. Would this be wrong? Where would you draw the line?

Personally I think the formality of corduroy is highly dependent on the style the pants are made in. I've seen cords that are basically a 5-pocket jean-style pant, that should really only be worn casually. Then I've seen cords that are made like a standard dress trouser, with a crease and everything. Those would look fine to me with a casual-ish blazer or SC.

Cord is always pretty casual.

Today, with underfed shirt collar. Not much to say, and no way to take a real picture, but I've had a big enough mouth ITT today.

Not sure I've seen a good pair of cords with a crease. Something akin to a crease in a pair of jeans, doesn't work for me gents.

Like that cloth YRR

Eviltimeban: no, not a bad pocket silk at all; just didn't get it with the green tie and blue suit-- and prefer the subtle puff fold that cotton dockers did with his, actually!

Henry Carter, that is one great lookin shirt collar!!

RD10, I much prefer the slippers with the awesome tartan DJ. With different shoes, I'd really like the day look, too. So I'll just pretend you wore other shoes. smile.gif

It's Ralph Lauren.  I got it on eBay for $50.  After many rounds of alterations and many duckets invested, it's finally home.
