Absolutely right.  But stop acting like everything's normal when you just posted a fit on Tumblr that's cool enough to give a penguin haemorrhoids.  Post here!  With details!

P.S. Betelgoose - where did those delicious shoes come from?

I have a couple of thin wool ties that I sometimes wear in hotter months. Unless you touch them you wouldn't know as they don't have texture. But the beefier wool ties are saved for cold weather.

First outing of my new Suit Supply Havana that I purchased in Chicago a few days ago. This check/plaid is way out of my comfort zone. I could easily picture Holdfast or Clags or Acute Style pulling this off but not me. The sales person in the SS store convinced me it was time to step out of the box. After wearing it all over town, this morning, I have learned to love it. It is 100% wool and very comfortable. I was wary of having SS in Chicago do the alterations in store and, then, sending it to me. But, I am very pleased with the fit. The back side is draping neat and clean. My biggest fear was the shortness of the coat. The SS salesperson persuaded me to go with a short fit. I am barely 5' 7". This "short" is shorter than any coat that I own. As Most ExeRent would say, or scream, the coat has to cover the butt. And it does. The shirt is blue. In spite of the shadow that you see, there is no light. It is a typical, greyish, December day in Michigan.

Betelgeuse - I love the height and width of the collar on the Moda shirt (not to mention, the tie, sportcoat, etc). In your review, you mentioned that it was a special order. Would you mind sharing the details? Much appreciate.

Did you mean the specs for the collar? :D

That's the one!  CP, I think you're grinning in the picture.  So is everyone within a thousand yards.  In a good way.  You look INCREDIBLE! (But next stop shoe polish or newness)

(Beetle, that's the same place as the caiman ones, right?  Cool...!)

Thanks, Mimo! Yes, indeed, I was smiling!

As for the shoes, in real, normal daylight, the shoes look better, cleaner, and more polished. There is no normal light in Michigan in December! frown.gif I agree that, in the photo, they look messy.

Everything seems a bit large: shoulders, sleeves, chest and waist. I would definitely try to size down and see how it looks (and feels).

Thanks for the feedback Spezziamo and ImTheGroom.

The overcoat is size 52.  I'm 5'11" / 181cm (no shoes, no socks, doctor's measurement) and 166lb weight.

I bought the overcoat in Milano a few months ago.  I tried on 50, the sleeves were short and it felt tight in the chest/underarms area--especially if I stretched my arms out.  But 50 was also loose in the lower chest, waist and gut area!  Still sales guy said "no, no 50 for you!  52 for you!.  you shoulders!"  I don't know if he was just trying to sell to me.

Apologies also for the poor quality photo.  it's phone and the angle is bizarre.  Just noticed that the photo makes it look like I have a gold earring and a white beard stubble!    neither which i have.

Obviously i plan to wear it over suits as well, but as often without.  i'll try to get a suit pic.

This is what a suit size 52 fits on me like.  Is it too big?  Obviously it is also new--pants not hemmed, sleeves unfinished, etc.  The suit is Drop 8.

My body could just be weird--i have relatively broad shoulders.   the shirt is too big for me, i know.

Other big problem is, I live in Toronto now.  In that overcoat, I am freezing, the fabric is so thin.  I need to get a proper long coat in a thick cashmere.

CP, I should never have doubted you!  But really, that looks fantastic.  All those crazy bow ties of yours, it's about time you released your inner dandy on the suits.  This is all win, I'm delighted for you. :)

Again, thanks! No! I'm glad that you doubted me. And, you did so in a gentlemanly way.

Its bespoke, was made in Dublin sometime in the early 80s I would say, cashmere with an silk inside lining. Its in incredible condition, like it was brand new.

The fit seems OK (sleeves are a little short) but overall I'm not sure if I'm in love with it or not - its as heavy as a mofo and I don't normally wear double-breasted anything. Plus the colour isn't as versatile I would say.

Opinions?

(sorry the pictures aren't brilliant)

BEAUTIFUL overcoat and ties
