i dont think its all that bad in the context of your fit, even though such a saturated blue does tend to be a difficult shade to pull off with a jacket and tie. ime that is.

The most obvious choice would have been sky og cream, but in the last minute I deceided this darker blue.

ok I guess, but still pretty meh/ boring overall. it's like the blue blazer you showed recently, with patch flap pockets.
you're a thin guy, you could rock something with a lot of character and style man! Here's my two suggestions:

1, Buy a new jacket. Like one of these. DB with patch pockets and unconstructed? yes.

2. Get shirts with a spread collar and NO tie space at the top where collars meet. Some may not agree that this is necessary, but it looks damned good to me when it's done this way.

light gray trouser, brown shoes, and a rough silk tie/ tie with some texture/ elegant personality, could be a winner.

You lookin' at me, punk?

Texture/tie area close up. And yes I know I know, I need PS'. I'm workin' on it!

Break shot. (they don't crease like that when walking)

Socks are boring today.

Breakdown/Thoughts (Click to show)
This entire getup was around the blazer because I think it's awesome. It's a wool Strathmore blazer by Anderson Little, which means it's probably mid range-ish. Fine with me. Black was the safe choice so I went with it for shoes and pants. The blazer is loud enough as is.

Pants aren't notable, but they're volcom. I think they look good though. After wearing these, I think I'm going to start buying longer pants because I like the way it looks when the pants kiss the top of the shoes. They flow better that way. I like showing my socks and shoes with less length. Anyway, all my chino's/khaki's might be a little shorter, but I'll definitely go the right length for slacks.

Shoes: Made in USA JM's. They're really comfortable.

Paul Frederick Tie. Express slim fit shirt. I like the collar.

As far as glasses go. Coastal is an inexpensive way to try out a frame. I ended up getting three pairs on there for about 15 bucks each and they're all prescription. Figured it was a way to try on a pair of frames and decide if I liked the shape.

glad you were not offended. smile.gif

feel free to be true to yourself, and if "slightly ridiculous" and "swagger" are your goals, thats all you. just remember, its not the vibe here, and almost all constructive criticism you will get will lead away from that. learn what you can, be yourself, but dont expect SF to let up being what it is. just a friendly piece of advice, because a lot of people that buck the SF vibe, get very resentful very fast.

thanks for the glasses rec. not sure its my speed tho.

Hahaha.

The shirt is one of my first MTM from Jermyn Street shirtmaker Harvie and Hudson, and to my surprise the quality is far below their RTW. I love their shirts, but don't let them make me shirts anymore.

/me takes stylistic notes.

(Thanks for the recs. I'm not likely to buy any of those new, but I'll keep an eye out for stuff like this and there's a famous mens vintage store in town that I might have to revisit.)

I can see that actually. The thing is that I can't wear suits to work. If I did, then this would all be much easier. Only a couple of the surgeons here wear suits every day and most of them don't as they instead go with a SC and slacks. I can do the latter, but my wearing a suit would be quite out of place.

most fits here, well, at least 50/50, are SC and trousers. id say more SC and trou fits though. its not about SC v suit. its about how you do it. teacha.gif

I don't know how the Styleforum Groupthink (SFGT) came up with the concept that both red and yellow ties are verboten. Great...so now we should not be using two of the three primary colors?censored.gif

A preview of some stuff I am working on. Shot this at Yegwa's store.

NOT SF Compliant:

- Black Suits

- Red Ties

- Plain White Shirts

- Paying Retail

By the way, I just became an Executive Corporate member at Jos.A.Banks!

Just needed cedar hangers for my jackets.

Black suits and white shirts are bad ass. Doesn't matter what anybody says - it's the damn truth.

You're a surgeon who can't afford a $45 tie and a new jacket? Or you just don't want to? :confused
