HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part III - Page 4315

Today's effort. Pants probably have too much break . . .

Tie is navy/silver

Square is Silver/Black

Pants are charcoal/light grey glen plaid (I think :P)

Thoughts (Click to show)
Really need to step up my trouser game . . . I think they are the most consistently bad aspect of my fits

Process:
Chose the pants first. They are easily the most limiting part of my wardrobe right now. I hope to change that soon. I intended to take everything a more tweed/country direction, but all of my tweed jackets either matched the scale of the pants too closely or did not provide enough contrast. I settled on the navy blazer. I chose a white shirt next because I lacked earth tones. I decided on a rep and went with a simple silver/navy. I figured black derbies would complement the pants well. I finished it off with a silver/black square.

Haha. AAS, you started with a pair of shoes and ended up changing them out.

That thought process was pretty funny to read, but your outfit looks great!

LBF, I agree about the pants. I'm sure you could even thrift some slacks/chinos/khakis to up your game. You might even find some good tweed in there!

Yeah, I think if I had worn the shoes or the original tie it wouldn't have looked very good.  I wouldn't mind wear the original shirt and tie with a navy odd jacket, but I already had on navy odd pants.  I'll try to wear the shoes tomorrow.  Laces and all.

AAS, that's a great example of navy trousers done well. I'll pretend that the shirt is just blue and white stripes... smile.gif

They look just a bit large to me, relative to the jacket itself. They come too close to the edges, maybe. I could be off, though. It also just looks a bit large around the hips.

The standard line around here regarding navy trousers seems to be that "even when navy does work, there is probably something that would have worked better". With AAS's fit though, I don't think anything would have worked better as that blue jives way to well with the brown of the shoes and the tan of the jacket. The standard 'mid grey flannels' (or whatever), wouldn't have looked near as good I don't think.
