I'm not sure it looks dated, but it really looks too big. I honestly don't think it will suffice to bring the waist in.

In any event, this is what I'm wearing today.

Thoughts (Click to show)
I think I did well with the tie/jacket/shirt combo. I think I need a white pocket square for this setup.

I think the jacket fit is good, but it's a little on the longer side. It's an old sears roebuck jacket though. Not the the priciest, but it's okay. I think I might have to have my other one altered because this guy is starting to get tight in the back. Funny what starting to work out again will do so quickly.

So:

J crew shirt
Sears roebuck jacket
Krizia uomo tie.
Bonobo boot cut chinos
Frye boots.

Hey RTC (ridethecliche),
Just out of curiosity, how tall are you. The jacket with pocket issue seems long or maybe it's just too big

To be early is to be on time.

Absolutely fantastic. Details on the suit?

The photo angle makes you look 10ft tall, esp. with the way the suit hangs and its stripes. It's a pretty cool suit too, by the way!

Wasn't going to post either of these (Friday & today), because the lighting/colour balance is so poor, but since I'm making a post here anyway...

So real question. I got flack for the pockets on this jacket below. I agree that my fit was off, but the pockets on clag's jacket are similar. Just trying to understand why one stands out so much more than the other. Obviously, my fit 'issues' make everything stand out more.

What flack did you get? I think that Clags' pockets are just a bit too small.

vs

Angelico vs Cerruti. Similar wool, similar price, the second one has a detachable internal padding. Cerruti's one is also slightly shorter. Which one would you buy?

^ very different jackets; I like the first more, but the second is probably more versatile. Go with the one you love the most!

Hmm... not so sure about this jacket. This is all probably simply a matter of personal preference, so feel free to ignore...

I'd agree with sugarbutch that the hip pockets look slightly off. But I'm not sure that they're too small; I think they just need to be positioned a bit lower down on the jacket. Also, this is one case where your preferred higher button stance (which naturally lends a jacket something of a "standing to attention" vibe) is a little at odds with the relaxed informality of patch pockets, to my eye. Finally, I'm simply not much of fan of that particular shade of blue in concert with that wide herringbone. Still, I do like the buttons, and they go well with that blue. The ensemble is also very well put together.

^ That's a really cool coat, Moo. Reminds me of an old-fashioned open-faced Royal Navy uniforms, with the white facings. Love the look.

(on a practical note, I find that reversible coats can sometimes be a pain to get on and off, because they lack the normal "slippery" sleeve linings, causing sleeves to catch. What's your experience?)

Thank you! This suit is older than Zadok the Priest. It is a mtm Hickey Freeman.

Thanks. When I wear the coat with the cotton/tan side facing out, the interior cashmere is a bit "sticky" but it's not too bad. When I wear it in reverse, it's almost the same as cupro lining - slippery enough for me. smile.gif

I'd get both if you have the means. They're both excellent
