I'm beginning to think you like blackwatch, AAS.

Really like the jacket in the first pic, but I feel like the SC is out of place. Yes, I am a grey POW jacket-wearing hypocrite. Not sure what would be a good replacement though. Navy is probably too dark with the vest. Maybe some sort of tweed or a big, bold windowpane? If you lost the vest, I think the SC works better, as would navy. Just my opinion.

Like the shoes too.

Very nice SC, but it seems like the tie and square sort of come out of left field. Perhaps it's the combo of the two?

Great pieces. I think it calls for a wide, thick Windsor Knot to balance the wide lapels.

Perish the thought!

I love this tie, but haven't quite worked out how to incorporate it into a cohesive outfit yet. Need to keep trying. This morning I was in a hurry and just grabbed the first PS I could find.

CD: the only thing I can say against your jacket is the orthodoxy that PoW should always be a suit.  But it looks great, and I think that's totally the way to wear a grey jacket.  I have a solid light grey DB about to be finished, and similar plans for it.

This rapid snapping of selfies in the short walk from car to office, is clearly the optimum and intended use of the Blackberry's camera.

Anyway, today: maiden voyage of another of Don Roberto's Yellow Hook lovelies.  (N.B. Clags: before you get on my case again, this is a 4IH to be gentle on the tie, and there is a little dimple in there, it's just hidden in a cuddly world of cashmere wonderfulness..and might have had a rest but I've put it back now, promise.)

Pingson will recognise the PS.  I love it (thanks Malford); definitely top three ever.

What's the knock on grey jackets? A grey SC with black trousers and shoes is a pretty nice look, I always thought...

and Mimo, what flavour of berry are your socks today?

I'd go tan/dark beige, rust or navy over black with the grey SC personally.  Even a deep olive green.  But yeah, grey is good, and I think CD's colour combo there is spot on.

They're raspberry, my only berry of which I have three.  Yesterday was burgundy. Which I suppose is more closely associated with grapes. :)

Peaks look better when beefy. If those were notch lapels I'd have them made an inch less wide.

As per one of your suggestions, I'm stopping in to have a pair of olive trousers fit today to pair with that gray twill jacket I posted a couple of weeks ago. I think the colour is a bit less formal but for where I'll be wearing them I think they'll be perfect. I'll post a fit pic for your consideration once they're hemmed. I've worn that same grey SC with navy trousers and thought it worked also, so I'm not sure what the stigma(?) against the grey jackets is about. I'm just curious.

Also, I've read through a fair number of posts by various SF members (probably more by :foo: than anyone) explaining various considerations of colour in regards to how to dress but not once have I heard any theories of warm vs. cool colours as they relate to putting together an outfit. Again, just curious...

Coxsackie, I once said you did louche very well, and at your best you can do, but on several occasions, I've just not been sure if you know what you're doing at all. I don't know what makes any of this rustic - but it is an enormous mess...
