Oh, but it's... it's ugly. Very much so. You have to give it to me.

I hate teaching last period on Friday.    This is my Friday challenge fit.  I hope the jacket is acceptable.

The shirt is too busy IMO, but I understand that it was likely selected more for the challenge than anything else.

^My tastes run pretty conservative but still, those colors and textures look pretty great to me, and your pose hides the fit in those trousers a bit but they seem to be fitting really well ( at least to my Newb eye). I love that outfit.

Hey, all! I've been unable to post for a while, but I've been following along! Some great outfits and inspiration lately. Today I give you my attempt at the style of the Friday Challenge. Although he may not have intended it, I feel that perhaps Claghorn simply provided me with opportunity to fail spectacularly! As always, comments are heartily welcomed!

Pants are olive. Shirts is tan/white herringbone, I think it's tan enough at a distance but may be wrong. Tie is  . . . I'm not sure but I thought the colors went well with everything else. (I actually changed to it from a brown wool last minute)

P.S. Wore a PS. Still trying to figure these things out.

My thoughts (Click to show)

Some of my concerns include:

1. Pattern scale madness?

2. Bike toe blucher and tie sending mixed signals?

3. Pants fit? (I had these tailored after losing like 30 lbs. Did my tailor miss something? Should I just ditch them?)

4. PS color/type/fold (Kind of clueless here, just thought I'd wing it.)

5. Tie sucks?

Convo with wife:

luv: What do you think?

wife: NO.

luv: Well I don't have time to change, it's not an epic fail is it?

wife: Yes. Yes it is.

That would be a 4 inch probably Brooks Bros. tie, correct?

Okay, feedback can start with a few things you need to get rid of:

1. The shoes. Bicycle toes are so awful as to be unwearable, full stop.

2. The pants. Nothing wrong with olive gabs, but these pants are too big everywhere. I'm saying that as somebody who'll tolerate a looser leg-line than is the trend on here (and what gets love on here is far from the current fashion), but look at this drape. They're a mess. Your tailor may well have done the best he could, but it wasn't good enough. Those are unwearable.

On to the rest:

I kind of like the shirt, but it's not in the best possible taste and it clashes with the jacket.

The jacket looks like it's a bit loose, and not hanging all that well. It might be fixable with some alterations, or it might not. It certainly needs a press. I like the cloth.

The tie is very questionable, but if you like it, deploy it with a plain shirt and relatively plain casual jacket (a donegal, a subtle herringbone, or a camel hair).

As it stands, everything below the waist looks like you've given up, and the top part looks like you're trying too hard (and it vibrates).

YRR has been very kind. I don't mean to pile on but those trousers are absolutely dreadful. If you couldn't see it looking in the mirror then surely it was obvious from the photos? Take another look, and if you see anything redeeming about them then you have a long hard road ahead of you glasshopper.

I rather dig luv2's tie, but yeah, them pants need to go.
