Also, I would remove the belt loops when the suit is worn with braces.

I 100% agree. I have some shirts I got custom made and the points show. It's spoiled for me now that I've seen ones where the points don't show. Try this, you will love the sleek look much more. It doesn't mean it needs to be a cutaway, just that they need to be longer.

This is good. The braces look great with it.

I think Stitchy has a point but for some reason, I don't consider this a crime. At least not compared to some stuff I've seen on here. I wouldn't hold back any compliments just because I saw the shirt had the same pattern. Even though it's nearly the same scale.

And as Stitch said about the colors, I agree. The colors on that suit/shirt/tie are great. The PS is awesome but I'd switch it out for a muted green, orange, navy, something other than red. Too many red items.

But take all this with a grain of salt. You broke 3 rules (suspender with belt loops [even though they're getting fixed], same scale and pattern on two items [although now that I look at it, the scale is way different but it still looks too close], and wearing the same color [red] too much) and still managed to look like a stud. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gifworship.gif

Edit: But your boutonniere looks depressed.

A better pic of today's fit.

well, it dissolves to solid from afar, which is the saving grace imo. but in the close up pic, where they are clearly the same scale and pattern, i dont love that so much.

This is probably it.

Don, you should look for a shirt that color with longer points and see if you like it. Maybe try an MTO shirt place. There's plenty that can do it and won't break the bank.

Here you go. I have seven shirts just like this, back when I didn't give two shits about collars. Now I'm working on replacing them with collars I'm really cautious about. I've got some of NOBD's style and some Italian semi-spread 4" points. drool.gif

Not me but the one picture that convinced me to get it. This fit is perfect, but I'd change the tie and PS. And yes I love the vest.

Not too hot for suit&tie today smile.gif

In other news: new tie sample of my wife's "TIOCTIES" project & a new camera.

Pocket square a bit out of place for me

Really? Light grey suit, pink works pretty well. If the suit was darker, it'd be more out of place. I can't think of a better place for that PS.

Agreed! Nice choice for a splash of color. The suit fits very well. Oh, to be slim again.....15 pounds to go!shog[1].gif

This blue/brown/olive combo really appeals to my "Dandy" side. I don't know if I could pull off this odd vest look but I'd sure like to try if I had the pieces.

Your penchant for longer jackets is generally fine, but with these jeans it's uhoh.gif

The collar points aren't doing you any favors here. I understand that we all wear the shirts we have, but for your next purchase, you might strongly consider going for a more substantial collar.

Why? If you're wearing braces, you're presumably also wearing a jacket and the belt loops are essentially invisible. This isn't something I would spend much time thinking about.

This is SF. We spend the entire time talking about tiny things nobody else would notice. I've heard the advice of belt loops or braces at least eight times in the past two months, first time I've heard otherwise.

I think it looks off enough to get them removed, which he already stated his tailor is doing. I don't think Don has his jacket buttoned all day.

I used to take my pants back to the tailor if they were 1/3" too long or short. I finally learned how to cuff my pants myself so I don't have to rely on a tailor. Point is, some people fixate on small issues, some don't think it matters.

Indeed, and I am an advocate for sanity.

In the specific case of DC, the feedback he needs at this point is much more macro than suggesting he remove the belt loops on his pants.
