Busy weekend ahead - major concert to sing tonight, staying 'down the Shore', another chorus joining us, so we're busy hosting, ending with a dessert party..Wearing classic concert 'uniform'. See you all on Monday, gents!
If that's the best you can tie a tie you better go ask someone!
other than the fact that the back end of the tie is sticking out, I don't see much of a problem. I prefer to just take a picture without spending 20 minutes getting every crease right and measuring how much cuff I have showing
Everything else, including your other half, looks slick, smart, well put together ... you even both coordinate. Then you have a tie with crooked long blade and a way too short short blade sticking out of your jacket and screaming out from an otherwise calm and smart-casual outfit.
It's not a matter of spending 20 minutes removing every crease. The tie is often the centre of visual focus of the whole outfit and should be done right.
As with all criticism it's your choice to accept or ignore, but if you're going to ignore, it begs the question why you posted a pic??
My coming out, so to speak. From this morning. The company uniform for managers is actually a black tee shirt emblazoned with the company logo and khaki pants. Or business casual. This would probably qualify me for the CBD thread, based on meeting company criteria. Oh well. SC: Vintage (mid 80's) Sergio Valente rescued from the back of my closet. Shirt: BB Slacks: Deansgate Footwear: Allen Edmonds Sanfords in burgundy Tie: Richel PS: BCF Cufflinks: BCF (I had my readers on so that I could see the damned pictures.) There is currently no hair style other than brushing it. I am growing it out after years of a #4 clip every 2 weeks. In another month or so, I'll let some stylist have her way with me.
Your look is OK if a little bland but a hundred times better than a company logo polo shirt and khakis so credit to you for taking the high road.
I have a feeling you will get slaughtered for the sport coat, which looks dated and very unflattering. Baggy, boxy fit, odd buttoning point, very low gorge (where your lapel notches are). Also general SF consensus is that it's a lot harder to pair trousers with a light coloured odd jacket than a darker one (navy, charcoal etc.)
Anyway welcome and stick around. Lots to learn here.
