"Classic" or "Linea Maestro"? I know they make some good shoes, and I've been down that road. It's just if you read the Meermin thread lately, the mistakes seem to get more frequent, the delays longer, and the communication worse all the time. I think if you want a painless transaction and a proper shoe on a nice last for under $200, Indi-Loakes and Indi-Barkers from an English-speaking webtailer, are a pretty good option. I just saw some nice Grenson suede brogues (most Grensons are also made in India) for $100 in the Pediwear sale. For $200, blue suede chukkas from Church's in Herring's sale. And you know they're actually in stock when you pay for them. If experimenting with new styles is the intention, I'd say that kind of thing was a pretty safe option.
