My poor weather shoe: the "Cambridge" by Shipton & Heneage on a Dainite sole. I guess this is a poor man's Dover but I really like it. I think the size of the "lake" is spot-on and the lining is padded for extra comfort.

For the Friday challenge, then. Also, an experiment - I normally wear this suit with black shoes.

Suit - Paul Stuart
Shirt - Lewin
Tie - Charvet
PS - no name brand
Cufflinks - Boston Museum of Fine Arts
Braces - BB

Since I took photos for the bold tie challenge, might as well post them here too:

As this was the bold tie challenge day, I thought I'd channel a little bit of the late 40s "bold look" for men. Dangerous territory to emulate these days, so this is a fairly toned-down interpretation but still has the looser cut, showy DB lapels, very strongly coloured & patterned tie and an overall, well, bold effect.

AND IN HONOR OF BEPPE

Re: Diaz's fit - I don't know; I think that tie would work a lot better paired with a mid (or even dark) grey suit than blue blazer/cream linens. ymmv, naturally.

Stitchy - I'd personally say that's a good night out tie, not one for a daytime look. Jacquard ties are tricky at the best of time, but their shimmering details work best for me in the evening. Cream shirt, navy suit, similar sort of dark brown shoes, (and a particularly flouncy pale coloured square, though given your feelings on handkerchiefs, I put that firmly within parentheses). You can even keep the socks!

It certainly would. I don't wear this tie anymore because I don't really have anything that works well with it. If it wasn't for the challenge... tongue.gif

This blazer is going to become a suit soon, though. Gonna get matching trousers made in an attempt to mitigate the problem with long front balance causing the quarters to be excessively open.

that was is so nice about the challenge. it gives you the chance to wear a tie that otherwise would just be sitting in a drawer.

I hate to say this, but the trousers are too wide for the slim fitting SC. It makes you very bottom heavy. The rest of the outfit is excellent though.

Must be because I'm pulling it forward for the buttoning pose - the jacket has virtually no waist suppression. I enjoy the full trousers with slim SC look though - Astaire comes to mind. It might make one look bottom-heavy overall, but does a great job at disguising wide hips. I hate the "carrot look" I get with slimmer pants.
