HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part III - Page 3514

Thanks, CP!

Monkeyface, the navy tie looks better, and I don't have a problem with the check shirt. I think it would also look good with a solid blue shirt and a chalky, navy neat.

Brown suits and off white/ecru/cream shirts are great friends.

SS it's all there in Flusser man-  don't go the cuff if u short cos cuffs shorten the leg.  Otherwise icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif  fit

nice suit MF.  IMO the brown and caramel's too much cos brown's such a dominant color it's going to need something pretty strong to balance it.

Have u got a navy neat tho  rather than a solid for this? and then go solid with shirt and (linen) square.   the ecru or cream comment's spot on.

(edit:  jus noticed SB made the same suggestion)  you know, have u gotta pink bengal stripe?  could go jacket and shirt stripe, tie and square solids, very nice

already posted pics of mine, not sure they work but they give u a sense of  blue pairings:

You should spoiler those contrast buttonholes too, Mimo. What has been seen can not be unseen..... crazy.gif

Yep, it's a SuitSupply Sienna. It's got some nice details the other SS suits don't have, such as the fact that the shoulders are attached by hand, and it has super 130's fabric. It's really soft and light, and drapes much better. I prefer the shape of these lapels as well. The fit is very nice too, nothing needed to be tailored, except that I'm going to put 2'' cuffs on the trousers.

Hmm, I don't own any yellow or gold ties at the moment. I've always been a little wary of buying those, but it would work with this suit though. I'll see whether I can find one on sale!

Cheers, I'll try that next time!

Don't own any of those colors at the moment, I'm really a solid light blue/white shirt kind of guy. I've only very recently started wearing patterned shirts. I'll keep an eye out for it though, with the upcoming summer sales I'm bound to find a nice ecru shirt! Would a normal white shirt work with brown? Or light pink perhaps?

Thanks for the detailed advice! The light blue tie gives the suit a more playful, summery look, while the navy one makes it more formal. I like both of your combinations! Yeah, I've got a navy neat. Don't have pink bengal stripe shirt though, only a solid light pink shirt. I think I'm going to play around with what I have at the moment, to see what works best. Then I'll go shopping for an ecru shirt and perhaps a bengal stripe one.

Thanks for all the advice guys!

Love the collar pin and the peak lapels on the suit! I was wondering, how do you select a pair of cufflinks from your vast collection every morning? Do you try to make sure they complement your tie for example, or do you just pick whatever strikes your fancy at that particular moment?

Nice windowpane suit sb; don't see too many of them around, but I do like them. Good shirt/tie combo for it too.

Went to my daughters' end of school celebration, so I thought a suit was called for (although not all agreed with me, apparently):

PS is a little camera-shy, I have adjusted it since the photo was taken.

You gave me an idea for wearing a tie I have that's similar to the one you're wearing. Thanks! Looks great! icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I'd echo the comments of others that a more tapered leg would probably suit the truncated length better. Or at least, confirm its deliberateness to others. Mind you, sockless loafers does that anyway.

The whole discussion about trouser length - and more generally SF's attention to detail in this regard - reminds me of a description I read in a book the other day, of an unfortunate chap with OCD. I found the relevant excerpt online (couldn't copy paste for some reason, so took a screenshot instead):

A cautionary tale to avoid worrying about these things too much...!

I like that you're asking this question of people.

I was going to post that link myself, though I guessed someone would beat me to it. It's interesting, isn't it! And a lot more time-consuming to do it that way than a quick snap, crop & upload!

Lucky Monday; had my annual check-up at the dentist, and all remains A-OK. All the more reason to grin:

Trouser length: I usually just forget about it if they're close to what I like.

Pingson - that rocks. Understated elegance for sure. Mimo - I don''t mind the occasional whimsical touch such as contrasting button holes, even if they do constitute a SF felony. Wouldn't be a mainstay choice, but particularly in light of the convervative nature of the rest of the ensemble, it looks just fine to me.

This is excellent, in fact I would say it is even better than your entry for last week's challenge.
