Tangential thought:
Seeing my pic today, I think it makes for a good illustration of the point I've been making a few times about lapel real estate.
The Breanish today was cut by WW Chan before yesterday's flannel.
Between the two, I asked him to update my pattern by getting a tad more shoulder extension and wider lapels.
Side-by-side shows the differences - I do think the larger lapel surface and slightly wider top are more flattering - agree/disagree?
Good ****, doc. I can no longer keep silent on this next point, however. Your knots are weak. Every time you rock a nice combo, I get to the knot, and it's just
What part of the knot don't you like? Is it the general skewiffness of the knots? That's not going to change, I'm afraid - I actually really like it when they happen to end up like that.
Looking smart. One thing I can't help noticing whenever you post a pic: you have a fleeting resemblance to Ed Miliband, the opposition leader here in the UK. It's the little things that amuse me sometimes...
New P Johnson casual suit in Dugdale Bros worsted - French navy; three curved patch pockets; light brown horn buttons; half lined - with a brown Cappelli tie
Patch pockets on a suit do nothing for me, all the more so when they're curved like that. Meh. Nice fabric though, and the tie goes very well with it.
Anyway, GDL, this is my shortest jacket per the earlier suggestion this week. I would submit it as the reason I think I need R length coats when this is closer to a short. Appreciate everyone thoughts.
I tend to like a slightly longer jacket length, so would say this jacket does look a bit short. However, to be fair, it's really tricky to judge appropriate jacket length on a torso pic. A full-length shot from a reasonable distance makes judging these things a lot more meaningful.
What part of the knot don't you like?
seems like they are charcoal. So i would personally go for a light navy blazer, brown cord jack, or some kind of jacket with a pattern/texture
Bieber?!
Fun story - a few months ago I was walking home from work through Times Square with my iPod headphones in. Suddenly I heard thousands of girls screaming in my direction out of excitement when I walked down the block. Being that this is a typical response I took it in stride until I realized Justin Bieber had approached the TRL window above me.
Anyway, you're off to a good start for a young guy. Aren't you cheating a bit though - don't you have personal stylists?
HF: Pretty much what Alex said, but if you like how you do it, then keep on truckin', man. Forgive my aggro from yesterday. I'd just had a hellish commute/baseball/soccer/dinner shuffle with the kids.
gdl: I can see what you're getting at, but the substantial difference in the nature of the materials obscures the point. Both look good, though.
Now, back to my favorite subject, me:
Low-light, low-angle f'length
