Love the paisley tie, and it works well with teh shirt and jacket. I'm not convinced the red of the pocket square is a good addition.

Thanks for the critique. To be honest, I struggled with selecting a PS this morning. There's some red in the paisley pattern of the tie, so it should work in theory, but as it is now it might just overwhelm the tie. Should probably have worked off the brown/blue in the tie instead, but thought that came too close to the pattern of the jacket. Sometimes one over-thinks these decisions shog[1].gif

As it is, the square is very sober, and so demands a bit of sobriety elsewhere too. A solid shirt would probably do that, by separting the relatively similar-scaled jacket & tie.

Thanks HF...this is spot on...and the reason i love teh forums. Ill try a solid blue next time..and the time after that..a patterned square. wink.gif

^ I find the choice all depends on whether you feel like being a bit cheeky on the day. :D

A darker, more brown red would have been quite cool. I like the little bit of green in the square; it's the brightness (or maybe the better word would be hue, I'm not sure) of the red that I find a little distracting. The rest is great though.

I leave it to your judgment as to which has occurred smile.gif.

Regrettably, I more often face the dreaded third result - complete skull failure.  To wit, here is today's outfit:

I'm already feeling a pocket square fail.

Suit - Samuelsohn MTM

Shirt - Eton

Tie - Kiton

PS - some thing I scraped off the bottom of the pocket square box.

^^im not a fan of the square...my gut says to go solid, but take that with a grain of salt. Great collar on the shirt..looks damn good RP.

I can see why you picked the PS, because it does pick up the colors from the tie (and the suit/shirt/tie combo is very nice indeed), but I think that the PS is a near miss - not a total fail by any means, but not an optimal choice.

That's what I was aiming for, but did not achieve. I had initially picked another square with an even brighter red in it but switched to the current PS because it is a little more subdued. Even closer to burgundy would probably have been even better.

My friends, I came up with the perfect solution to sizing. I will just wear a yarmulke under my fedora and call myself an Orthodox Modernist.

I think it may no be a square fail, but the fold, it is. Everything else, it's good IMO.

I didn't have to wear a tie today, but I wanted to use the new SC. Tomorrow my tailor is picking it up to do some alterations. As you can see, the waist is way too big. nod[1].gif
