As to the pants: how would I make them work? The camera really makes the pattern stand out...the blue thread isn't visible until within a foot and the pants appear a rough but solid gray at about 1.5 meters. Would I need a patterned jacket of a different scale to keep the balance?
Same pants, farther away (Click to show)

These are a very fine pattern which does help them resolve to solid at a distance, but even so, I'm not a big fan of patterned pents. IMO, if you are going to pull them off, you need something bold up top to anchor the eye and keep it from being drawn downwards. Spoo has a shot somewhere where he is wearing patterned pents with a wide butcher stripe shirt, which, while loud and not my taste, worked pretty well. I'd also stay away from a checked shirt with checked pents, it's not likely to end well.

Edit: found the Spoo pic. Again, I wouldn't wear this, but IMO it pulls of the patterned trousers pretty decently. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

So, instead, here's what I went with. I fear this didn't come together quite the way I was hoping it would.

I don't know why, but this ensamble, I like it a lot.

I know. i just love the square. smile.gif

I was thinking about one of those squares but I just couldn't figure out any look where the colours would work. Shame, because they're damn awesome.

A rare sunny (and almost warm, or at least, not cold) day. Need to make the most of these while they're around 'cos the forecast for next week is back to sub-zero. Anyway, last time (or the time or two before) that I wore this suit, someone asked for a pic of the waistcoat, so I've included a shot of that today:

I too wonder the same. I am a huge douche as well. I might out-douche, Derek. We need a douche-off.

Wow, out of context the term "douche-off" sparks many images. Some that I even like.

Estitches! Lots of purple, I like it! fistbump.gif This is something I'm sure I would use. Keep the tie... it's not skinny... if you don't like it, I can DM you my adress here in Mexico and I would very pleased to give it a very well use. nod[1].gif
