Looks good - and more coherent than the pinstripe-bow combo.

Taken, once again, by my friend Alex Wilson at the start of the week. More at the Mode Parade. Please excuse the mark in the first photograph

That's so weird; my name is Alex Wilson. *Plays 'It's a Small World'*

Photos are nice.

The ridiculousness of those glasses almost undoes the sweet, sweet lovemaking the rest of your fit did to my eyes.

So, some bullets about a plain fold hanky (you are doing much better with them BTW):
  • All of the time, fold it a bit sloppy, like this example.
  • The hanky should always sit at an angle to the pocket. .

Mostly agree, minus the unsnipped points above.

Plain fold hanks should be plain -- white or white with edging or somesuch. Parallel to the pocket is pleasingly '60s. Unless you are doing the triangle -- and I agree most shouldn't -- slanted looks like you have slippage. A little sloppiness to the fold shows your degage attitude, so it's gilding the lily to arrange the square so it's sinking like the Titanic. If it happens, it happens, but one doesn't cultivate an easygoing air by calculating every detail.

Plain fold is a crisp look in its ideal form, so don't try to make it what it isn't. If you want foppishness, go with a more foppish fold.

Also, Barims looks great and the glasses are the critical component to the '70s swag.

Quick post to restore bullets:

  • Almost all of the time, do edges out, like this example.
  • All of the time, fold it a bit sloppy, like this example.
  • Unlike a stuffed hanky or square, show as little as you can...just peek over the pocket. You have too much.
  • The hanky should always sit at an angle to the pocket. While I slope mine downward away from center, don't do as I do. Most of you will look better if you slope it upward away from center.
  • The most patrician plain fold is the single iceberg triangle, but it is very easy to do this wrong. Avoid it.
  •

As for "cultivating" an easy-going air, sounds too Pitti to me. Instead, spend the five minutes it takes to nail your look down when you start the day, but then leave it alone.

It will become easy-going soon enough.

Perhaps it's just my innate grouchiness, but I can't help but notice a recent upsurge in the number of people requoting their "thumbs-ups" to say little more than "thank you". For me, one of the best aspects of introducing the thumbs-up system was that it kept a lot of this pleasantly ego-boosting but essentially empty feedback, but moved it out of the main content of the thread.

I would suggest that all SF WAYWRN posters can take it as read that we're both a) vain enough to check back on who's liked our outfits, and b) pleasant enough people to be grateful for the positive feedback.

If there's a specific point of discussion or active follow--up to some of the feedback then of course it's perfectly sensible to discuss it in the main thread, but if it's just a thank you, I feel it makes the real thread content - the pics & more nuanced feedback - more spread out.

Of course, it's up to each individual to decide how they use the various features of the board; I'm just expressing my own opinion on the matter.
