I really like it took, but be warned, it's a shade of grey that requires you to have significantly contrasting grey trousers (dark charcoal, or very pale) or really dark earth colours (dark green in the pic, for example). Denim works surprisingly well too. Cream/beige is nice too. Middling shades of grey flannel or donegal aren't enough of a contrast though.

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of this in terms of a more casual jacket, likely to be worn with jeans (or cords) - looks like a good choice to me:)

Agreed that the suit is awesome. I don't think the shirt is a problem, it's the tie that doesn't work for me. But then I am not a fan of Holdfast's tie collection in general...

Holdfast's tie collection is awesome! The problem is that it just works for him, but it works well smile.gif

One day I'm going to photograph them all in a single pic. It will be a wonderful sight. Sort of like Pollock, yet even more gloriously reminiscent of vomit.

You lot have had some influence on my tie collection though: I'm currently selling a solid black satin, a lurid Joker shade of green, and a solid bright white one... get them while they're still retina-searingly fresh. devil.gif

Thanks, I had doubts about the PS too, but I felt the gold detail would make the outfit a little less sober.

Thanks, I can imagine your surprise, but the tie is a navy grenadine with white stripes. Here's a closeup:

Down below, there's tan moleskin trousers (need to be taken in through the legs) and burg LWB. Any feedback would be wonderful.

^^

I think the second one works well for you, the first one not so much.

...which is funny because I'd have almost no occasion ever to wear a boater IRL. In a few years, I can imagine wearing the homburg, though. devil.gif

BTW, edmorel, Glenn O'Brien got a question in this month's Style Guy about that hideous tie knot I posted and you've avatared. Sheesh...
