You seem a very pleasant individual, Stitchy, and your garb today is inoffensive in itself.  But I am against the invasion of cardigans, short coats and...ugh...I can't even utter the word...the "French fabric" beloved of labourers....that NOBD was wearing.

Classic menswear.  Casual in this context = sports jackets and blazers instead of suits.  Beyond that, and I think you have to cross to the "other place".

But it's Friday, I'm bored, and just having an intolerant outburst.  It's nothing personal.  Just get that knitwear and industrial twill out of my F***ING SIGHT!  

Edit: HF's post above is perfect gentleman's casual in my book!  Although if I'm nit-picking, the striped shirt is a bit "city" and the tie a bit shiny.  I'd have loved to see a solid, softer shirt under there, and maybe a wool tie?  Love that jacket though - perfect trousers and shoes too.

Yeah, I knew I'd get those comments. All I can say is that whether it's liked or not, it was a very conscious/deliberate choice to wear a more citified shirt & tie combination with the casual jacket. I found the formality contrast enjoyable, and think it's acceptable as the stripe is so bold and the tie fabric ridiculously thick & chunky, despite their formality in every other respect. Millions won't agree. :)

PS. Irate - try to think of it as good for you; wakes you up and keeps you on your toes. Otherwise you might become RelaxedCustomer and then where would we be?! :p

PPS. in fact, I actually really hate wearing that tie with more typical businessy outfits. The fat, almost plushy, silk and the size of knot that results, is just too much flash, even for me (and that's saying something). For some reason, I prefer it against more casual elements like today.

Cool. Same principle applies IMO; it's the sole non-(near-)monochrome element and that singular vivid element has been given the room to really shine in the fit you put together.

Can you please tell me if this suit is fits right?  Is it OK?

First set of photos are jacket buttoned,  second set is jacket open.  

Please excuse the fact that nothing is hemmed, basting threads not removed, etc.
