P, I'm going to disagree a bit. I do agree that the overcoat, hat, gloves and scarf are fine for the weather, that the general color scheme is good, and that the bk shoes > brown. But I think the shirt sleeves are too long/loose, not the jacket sleeves too short. The 6x1 jacket looks OK to me (if the buttons are dk brown horn), as does the tie. I think the tie, shirt, and jacket look 30's-40's more than 80's -- although, it's likely that it's 80's trying to look 30's-40's. Would I have something like this made? No, but I think it's quite nice, particularly for a grad student.

You might be right about the shirt sleeves. You're definitely more forgiving :)

Allen Edmonds seem to get a lot of love, ...... and flimsy leather that creases like crAzy.

I disagree. The leather on my AE's has held up better and has less creasing than the leather on my C&J monktons and the cheaneys I used to own. I'm not saying they are more pleasing aesthetically, but the leather quality is very good.

You are right, absolutely, that selecting a tie for this shirt is difficult. I did not want to go with a solid color as all I have from which to choose would be blue or purple. I was hoping to get by with this blue and pink stripe. In hind sight, I wish that I had not gotten double cuffs with this shirt--I was trying to be original or different. Toscanini once said, "Tradition is the last bad performance." Perhaps, in this case, I should have followed tradition.

So I'm guessing it was MTM? Actually I prefer the double cuffs with that shirt. I almost never get button cuffs, though.

Pants are far too close to the jacket in color. I think charcoal for more formal situations and jeans for a casual look would both be winners. I'd also look into a slightly taller (or at least less limp) collar.

Permit me to recommend a solution to this problem.

Regarding the Lindrick. I think it's awesome. I have the AE Dalton, and it reminds me of a Cordovan version :slayer:.

Most of your shoes I drool over, and would love to have. I'm not insulting your wardrobe as a whole or your discernment in general, I was just saying that those RL shoes were uncharacteristic of the Spoo we all know and love and admire. I'm not a fan of the goodyear construction, and the leather on those RLs looks kind of one-dimensional and synthetic.

One thing you guys are missing with all this Spoo/RL Lindrick/AE hate/AE love is that the Lindrick is the boot version of the marlow/dalton. It *is* shell cordovan.

You blasphemous blasphemour. Ralph Lauren, shell cordovan "Lindrick"..
