Hey Kappelan, just curious: the pics on torontomanblog -- are they of you & your friends, of random people in TO, or gathered from the interwebs? I must inhabit the wrong hood, because I've not seen much of this kind of fashion 'round here...
I post there photos of me and my stuff. Also I reblog some random stuff from guys I follow...
What boat is that? One that set sail in 1973 and has yet to make landfall?
Sorry chaps but these huge broad check jackets may get you praise from a handful of virgins on the internet but in the real world people are wondering why you are wearing clothes from the decade that style forgot.
I respectfully disagree. I think this jacket can be hip if worn properly and with the right attitude. I can safely say that I can pick just about any other jacket from my wardrobe and look better and more refined, but I like the challenge and the fun that this one brings.
I wouldn't call it dated, it's just funky.

I did that last time, it was just okay. I wanted to try something else this time. I start having doubts that anything with this jacket can be brilliant. Decent and fun at most, so I'll shoot for that.

I do think that the informality of the jeans in particular helps sync up with the craziness of the jacket. Wide-wale cords would be another option. Maybe moleskin or cavalry twill too. In terms of footwear, you might also want to try brown chelsea boots or something like that if you want something different to the suede shoes.
Thanks, I'll think about cords. Not sure I can picture it right now, but it might work.
