That is a lot of grey, stitchy.

Plain white shirt would have been the ticket here, Stitchy.

it would certainly have been the easier/simpler choice, and one i may employ in the future, though gdl would never condone a SC with a white shirt. but i wanted to go for a triple pattern look. if i wore PSs, i would have even gone for the fabled 4.

That would have been really nice. I even think gdl might agree.

And different socks of course.

This is the rare swing-and-a-miss from you, CP. The scale of the check is too close to the scale of the stripe, leading to a "buzziness" just under your chin.

I like a multi-pattern look as much as the next guy, but they must be the right patterns. Just looked again, and I noticed that the gray in the shirt is cooler than the gray of the jacket, adding to the discordancy. With all due respect to NOBD, I like the socks.

Is it too late for you to change your shirt? smile.gif

They scared the hell out of me. The outfit is so nice, subtle and sophisticated (with the white shirt...), and then BOOM.

i may have to disagree, or maybe just because i dont really look that deeply into it. either way, lol it is too late to change my shirt. lets see what you think when i remix this with white.

and i too like, nay, LOVE, these socks. biggrin.gif

lolz, i did not mean to startle you. when i reprise this, i will chose different socks. perhaps a herringbone or simple pin dot.

I don't know. Perhaps. Something is certainly slightly off but I really can't nail it down precisely. First I was going to say it's the shirt as well, then I thought it might be something about the relative width of the tie vs the lapels, then the precise shades of grey being combined and now I just don't know. It's not like any one of these is particularly egregiously wrong, or it would easier to be more definite. I think it might simply be one of those cases where everything is basically fine, but nothing quite sings. (Except the socks, but they're off-key. wink.gif)

The quickest/simplest fix I can think of would be to just substitute a true-black grenadine (a knit might be too narrow for stitchy) for the charcoal grey tie.

Haven't worn a bow tie in ages. This one is floppy enough to wilt down nicely over the course of the day, naturally narrowing its profile, but here's how it started off. The outfit as a whole has a little too much blue in it, but I tend to do that when I have an early start to the day and so am too sleepy to think when getting ready. In particular, a complementary - instead of matching - hanky would have made a world of difference.
