There are also some good examples of tweed + white shirts on Downton Abbey. Just takes a very measured approach to color and contrast, IMO.
First one looks either pale grey or ecru to me? Either lessens the harsh contrast. Your look is clearly nice but I think would be even better with off-white. *shrug*
I do think that the presence of a waistcoat or jumper (something the above two pics have) lessens my quibble with the look to some degree, due to the simple practical fact of the intervening garment covering a large percentage of the shirt, diminishing the contrast.
As for the Downton looks, I think I'd prefer them all with tattersals instead of white shirts. However, I will allow that a club collar functions somewhat similarly to a BD collar in deformalising/sportifying the look, thus falling under my already stated exemption for white shirts if they're BDs.

Looks good, ****.
Think about making it a one-button to start off with. See if you like it that way. Chris can always add the second later.
I say this, of course, as a two-button jacket hater.
Whew, that was close:
super casual today
left sleeve catches on my watch and usually does not show
Just curious, was it the shoes that got me no love today? Was thisclose to going with choc suede monks.
