Thanks for the kind words to all who commented (in particular: Kai, RDiaz, Victor, and clarinetplayer). 

TB, I do use shoe trees for all my shoes. I think the creases are a little more pronounced in the photo than irl (I'm curling my toes to the camera lest my feet look oddly foreshortened by said camera).
