Tough to tell (clean moar / poast less ffffuuuu.gif ) but it looks like the lapel might be bowing out a little. At any rate, the upper chest / shoulders just strike me as a little too fitted.

I think you might find it's better to go one size up and then take in the sides a little more. The alteration on this one is good - the jacket has a little shape. But I think you'd feel more comfortable and look a little better if you had more room in the shoulders and could taper a little more easily to the waist.

Stitch, the contrast of big fitting jacket and very tapered slacks is too much That jacket needs a lot of tailor work. (Sleeves, chest)

Is that the Zegna you bought?

And yea... show some cuff.

though i mentioned already, i think the jacket is not as bad off as it looks, but i have lost some weight and ill try and have the tailor nip the sides or back.

i would LOVE to show some cuff. generally, i love the look. but alas, my OCD doesnt allow it. trust me, i save hours in the day not messing with my cuffs.

"For this, very well-done, conservative look, I'm not in love with this PS."

I haz a sad. If it helps, the colors really are much more muted IRL.

Is pure new wool the same thing as virgin wool? confused.gif And if cashmere isn't pure, than is it just wool? confused.gif But if pure cashmere is only 5% of the blend, how can it be pure? confused.gif

I believe so, yes. It's on tags with the woolmark logo.

I couldn't follow that. But a sex joke formed and fizzled in my head. I think it involved me having sex within some of your wool. So....sorry for that.

Stitchy, there are few things more futile than claiming, "It fits better IRL" in WAYWRN. I speak from experience.

Tru dat. I do suspect, however, that the camera angle has excessively foreshortened his legs in that pic.

Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

The lapel seems a bit wonky. The jacket was given to me by my dad; it didn't fit him. I say this because I wouldn't have purchased the jacket otherwise because of the lapel. I haven't had it pressed yet, so maybe a pressing will fix it. But is there any way to get the buttonhole side lapel to extend further down? Is it even an issue or is that deliberate?

Also, I don't like showing shirt cuff.

beautiful tie...is that the wool knit, or the silk knit

Thanks Canta.  Re. cleaning, it's a room that's only really used when my kids are visiting, so I guess it's neglected! Haven't been in there in about two months until looking for a long mirror yesterday; I shall issue instructions...wouldn't want anyone thinking I live in squalor around here.

You're kind of right.  It's not tight, but the fit is closer around the shoulders and chest than lower down; it's actually a little loose around the lower belly (I'm fat, but clearly not as fat as my previous tailor thinks).  As pB said, the short, narrow lapel and the high third button undone, do make the top part protrude a touch too.  The three button variation on this one was probably a mistake if I'm honest (Alexei Sayle circa 1983 anyone?), but perhaps I'll take your advice and get it let out a little up top, and/or roll the lapel over the top button.  In the mean time, I'll leave this one undone to hang more naturally, with the matching waistcoat.

By the way, I've just picked up a heavy country tweed suit with which I'm travelling tomorrow.  I meant to mention it as the design was inspired latterly by your avatar, specifically the DB shawl lapel waistcoat.  My children will face-palm, and possible others.  But thanks all the same for your inadvertent assistance, I love it. :)

cashmere is not wool. comes from a goat, underside to be specific iirc. no idea the difference between new and virgin wool tho. i would venture they are the same, and it may be the first shearing of the sheep. a quick wikipedia search would answer that.

frown.gif i know. and its too bad, because so often its true, and not just for me.

hence i officially revert back to a strict no full length photos until i hire a professional photographer.
