I'm not alluding to it. I'm saying it. It's not a pretension. I'm a visual artist. What do you do, perhaps I can break it down for you differently? How is it not a truth? I'm not making something up. We look at things and they are either harmonious or they aren't. Some things are pleasing in proportion and some are not. In music, something sounds harmonious or it sounds discordant, right?

I personally would have gone with a slightly larger knot myself (not a windsor or anything, just slightly thicker and longer (uhoh.gif))

that said, I'm not quite sure I see the need for a battle royale on the topic - or for the desire to invalidate the other's opinion on it, from either side

Honey Ant, lay off; Foo hasn't posted in some time and you immediately drop a micro-penis bomb.

Just like some people give rep to big names, it seems like some people like to shots at big names...pretty soon all we'll be left with is the blind leading the blind.

You like it thick and long? You should check out my magic wand. Ed knows all about it.

Much applause for today's post by RDiaz. He has assembled a really nice combination of color, pattern, and texture.

Much appreciated smile.gif You're looking sharp as usual, and I like your bowtie a lot. I'm starting to really love wool neckwear, shame I don't have much of it...

And though my opinion probably doesn't count much, I really like everything in Foo's pic, both the outfit itself and photography. I usually don't like small knots with spread collars but this one looks good, perhaps because of the collar's softness. And the jacket is just plain awesome.

Foo looks fine. Perhaps the details aren't to everyone's tastes, but the overall look is positive.

Perhaps the presence or the lack visual harmony applies to more distinguishable scenarios (like a suit that screams for a tie, but is worn casually). To babble about visual harmony with regard to a photo of someone's shirt collar and tie knot shapes seems ridiculous. Furthermore, in my opinion, there is a lot of room for preference in such a matter, especially given Mamoofan's experience and enthusiasm for the area. I found that many "visual artists" are the ones who think they dress well but actually dress like shit, as noticed by someone with hands-on experience.

Hi there, n00b with only 29 posts here.

I'm not prepared to created a mathematical proof as to why, but for whatever reason, I like this better:

The knot in the image is scaled up 50%.

Just my opinion. Respect to Foo.

That sounds good on paper, but I'm afraid that in the opinion of most men, we have all shown a great capacity to lose Alpha points just by posting here.
