C'mon Fritz, it's ALWAYS around.

We'll always have misguided kool-aid drinkers who guzzle at the SF Fount of Hearsay berating us for wearing black shoes (I know you love 'em) and navy suits.

And one of the joys of keeping the 'navy suit + black shoe' tradition alive is to piss them all off. rotflmao.gif

@Pingson: I like the coat and the shoes, but I'm not too keen on your choice of tie. Looks way to saturated.

Yeah, the tie doesn't come out very well in the crappy iPhone photo. It is this navy shantung tie from Vanda Fine Clothing

Fellows,

Many thanks for the feedback thus far on my in-progress suit. I plan to head back later today and will post a small update on the further changes I'd like to make - I think we're in general agreement on the top half of the jacket and how it should influence the lower half

As my personal preferences are concerned, I would extend the shoulders, lower the gorge, built up the chest (trying to compensate for the skirt), let the waist out a bit and taper the trousers from the knee about an inch.

I did mention later that the sleeves were pinned at the time, so it threw most assessments off, mine included

The shoulders, we're all in accordance on, I'd say. The gorge can't be changed, obviously, and whilst I actually agree with you, I left myself open to experimentation this time round. I'm more concerned about the trouser thighs, as I noted in the original post

People have already pointed out the sleeve pitch problems but I'd go so far as to say there is too much roping in the shoulders as well. That could be an after effect of the pitch problems though. Just looks off to me, especially in the close up shot.

I did write that the trousers will be changed already. And again, the suit isn't pressed (for obvious reasons) - it's nowhere near as neat and tidy as it should be in its final stage and that includes the trousers. They're meant to be slightly bootcut, in any event

I had requested more rounded, natural shoulders, so I'll look into that later. But I think I like the roping - it looks a little slighter when the sleeves are unpinned

Well, I love 1960s - '80s tailoring for a reason

It's a shame that the tailor of my maroon suit didn't "sign" their work. The jacket's shape is fairly comparable to Edward Sexton's Nutters work (what I've seen of it)
