If it was raining, I would wear a poncho.

I'm glad we finally found something for which they are SF approved.

Whitepigeon will be very pleased.

If there were only one set of footprints in the sand, then this must be a picture of Jesus/Superman carrying you.

I dedicate this Elvis song to you:

I know that you will cry at the end, because I did.

Everytime someone posts about capes a pink Attolini cashmere tie dies.

Does anybody care about capes?

The UB40 cover is much better. Though I don't think they were wearing capes . . .

The lack of capes makes them irrelevant to the current version of WAYWRN.

Although, given how pre-emo UB40 was, I bet they did wear capes.

Sold out, though.

Allrigth, you made your point more than clear.

And I must say your are very inventive to make men wearing capes ridiculous.

Congratulations !

You have done a great job, well appreciated by the whole Muppetshow here.

But I wondered if you could do also the reverse :

showing pictures with men in capes who look extremely well dressed.

Do for one time the reverse : use your energy, inventivity and creativity for a change in a positive way.

I wonder if you can do better than this.

Probably you can, the question is if you will.

You migth already know that it is much easier to break things down by making them ridiculous.

than to show alternatives  in a positive and innovating way.

Stay alert wel educated members of this style forum : the trolls in Europe are breeding on something.......!

So do surprise us in another way for a change or else it will be boring.

It migth learn some people here that there is much more than their own limited prejudices.

Despite the fact that your passage sounds like Clarice Starling addressing Hannibal Lecter in his cell, I will try.

Well, to answer your question, I need to go back...way back...to the Big Bang.

Since that point, it seems that the universe has been going from states of higher order to states of greater disorder. This condition of entropy offers a clue of why time moves only forward. Time never moves backward.

You're with me so far, right?

Okay: this brings us to powdered wigs.

Here is a digital image of a remarkable painting:

[note: real painting is much bigger than what appears on your computer or cell phone screen.]

Portrayed is the Earl of Buckinhamshire, by Gainsborough. He wears a powdered wig, but also a fabulous ermine cape.

As a man with a regal bearing myself, I easily recognize it in others. And I see it here. The Earl is on the old and nearly dead side as shown in the painting, true, but he looks really great.

Now, should then a man today wear a powdered wig? In other words, to find a point at which such a wig looks pretty cool, I would have to reverse the state of entropy in which the Big Bang left us.

The same, I fear, is true of the cape...ermine or otherwise.

Will I defy entropy? No sir, this I will not do.

And neither should others, or so say I.

^ Talking of ermine, to mark the recent Diamond Jubilee, my local branch of Ede took one of their coronation robes out of storage and had it in the shop window. I think they were an Earl's robes, based on the details. It really is quite a marvellous garment, very luxurious and heavy.

No cape today. But a fairly sheer linen shirt, red trousers and specs surely qualify my fit for the strange mood of this thread today:

Plus, an only-slightly-less-wacky fit pic from yesterday:

As you may be able to tell, Summer has finally arrived on our shores. cool.gif

Damn you all. You gonna make me go ahead and get a bespoke capa española, you...

Holdfast: Nice summer looks nod[1].gif
