However, I will say this: the skinny, high-gorge lapels are conspicuously skinny and high-gorged. I realize that is the trend (and has been for the last decade or so it seems), but they are not visually balanced in your case.

Foo, can you please expand on this a bit? Eg the balance between too skinny and too loose?

I think he means it creates to many narrow vertical lines that are unnatural on proportions of the human body.

Good morning everyone. New jacket, test run, no alterations(corneliani mantua fit, wool/silk). Suggestions? Thanks in advance. Pants are stone, not white...
Edit: added ceremonial bathroom pic

When you're thin the opposite can be a problem too. If the sleeves are too full they might look ok in a robo-pose but once in motion they wrinkle in odd ways. I think the selection of fabric can make a big difference though.

I think the opposite actually. Narrow sleeves don't allow for the cloth to drape, and suffer from creasing in the elbows, which makes the sleeves ride up. Fullness allows for the cloth to fall better. I think Mafoofan was saying that the skinny sleeves and skinny lapels give too much of a "columnar" effect, which looks kind of adolescent, rather than a broad wider chest like a man.

I have a lot of them, I got sick of it. Simplicity I guess. I think it looks too fuddy duddy and foppish to me. I appreciate them, but I don't like them on myself.

There was a time when people asked about Vox's [Bill's (F. Corb's)] dimples.

The answer to both questions? Just wait for the man crush to wear itself out.

Skinny sleeves don't drape nicely. As in the picture I was commenting on, they tend to bunch up. Fuller sleeves that are shaped and fitted well tend to fall back into place and don't get stuck on your arms.

I've never experienced this and can't fathom why it would be the case. Sure, cloth makes a difference. However, all else being equal, a fuller sleeve shouldn't wrinkle more than a skinner one. Why would it?

You hit the jackpot with this coat. The ticket pocket is sharp. The spread collar on the shirt is a classy touch. The fit of the coat looks excellent, and it has a nice length. You are a savvy shopper, and you have a discerning eye.
