Thanks. Yes, some of the Sherman photos were mural-sized - her challenge to the full-length portrait paintings of prior centuries (never mind the photo mural at the entrance to the exhibition).

The Steins at the Met was illuminating - a case study of what one can do buying contemporary art from relative unknowns with not very much money. If the crowds at the members' party are any indication, the show will be a blockbuster. Ironically enough (or not, when I come to think about it), the demographic of those in the galleries actually looking at the art vs. those in the Petrie Court drinking and schmoozing was ancient (and WASP-ola) vs. younger and more diverse.

I'll report back after this evening's bacchanal . . .

Got no response on the tailors thread, sleeves seem a little long.

In my opinion, the suit looks decent, but still needs work.

1. Shorten the jacket sleeves to show at least 1/4" of cuff, no more than 1/2", but some guys on here like to show as much as an inch in order to strive for that old timey neapolitan look.

2. Shorten the hem on the pants so that you get a medium break.

3. Its hard to judge the length of your jacket by the obscure frontal shots, but it seems to be adequate looking at the side pictures.

4. The excess fabric in the back is your major problem and it really needs to be cleaned up.

5. I can see rolls and bunching up, just below the jacket collar in the back. There is also excess fabric just behind your armpits in the back. A tailor can clean that up easily by removing the collar, opening up the center and possibly the sides of the jacket and tightening things up.

6. The jacket could use a bit of waist supression.

7. The pant width looks compatible with the drape of the suit. Slimmer pants will may make the jacket look too full compared to the pants.

8. You have sloping shoulders and a severe hunch, which be making the jacket shoulders appear to look kinda broad and droopy. Try standing up straighter and doing the shoulder against the wall rule-of-thumb test. If the shoulders feel fine to you then maybe some shoulder padding could improve that problem.

98% of this is unwarranted unless the pictures are better for a better look.

Maybe he can't afford a professional photographer to take pictures of him at every angle in order to post them up on a forum. He's posted up six pictures at four different angles and his hands aren't in his pockets. He's wearing a dress shirt, a tie, and dress shoes, and the lighting isn't great, but acceptable for indoor view.

Ultimately, its gonna take a knowledgeable tailor and some trial and error to figure out what fits him and what can and can't be done with this particular suit, but the points I brought up, with the exception of padding in the shoulders are pretty standard alterations, and his suit doesn't appear to be a complete disaster.

Professional photographer? No, just some more natural light. The only thing that needs to be done on that suit based on those photos, is clean up the back, hem the trousers and shorten the sleeves. Done.

seems like a pretty good assessment from Octoberfile IMO. There have been far worse, one angle pix with terrible fits. nod[1].gif
