I know this is groundbreaking discussion right now but it has ben over 40 posts since the last fit. This called What Are You Wearing Right Now. Not, What Are You Bitching About Right Now. Can someone post some clothing already.

I am convinced that PG was and remains to one of the most considerable persons here. I to much have learned at him and I continue to study. His comments never happen "empty". They are always filled by sense and are always concrete. It is his advantage. Without dependence from tone of these comments.

It's an adventure when you post a pic of yourself on the internet. Just accept that.

I have a question to ask. I am from the other side of the world. I have also been lurking on a few of these sites for quite a long time now. Gnatty please do not take this personally, I have just happened to use a pic of yours as an example. Gnatty I also happen to think your pics of your sportcoats, PS's, and bowties look really good.

What I would like to know is:-

Why is it considered stylish in America to

1. not hem one's trousers and roll them up,
and
2. wear shoes without socks when wearing a suit.

Out of sight is a surcingle / lizard belt, yellow university stripe shirt and a blue fresco half-lined sportcoat with smoked MoP buttons.

Orgetorix: Outstanding and one of the few examples on this thread that you don't need a thousand colours and a paisley pocketsquare to look good. In fact, I much prefer your approach.

Come on, it doesn't take a natural aesthetic genius to look at a photo of themselves and recognise they don't look good, or like those they think dress well. I preferred it when there was a higher (self-enforced) barrier of entry to WAYWRN. Only the reasonably good - or bad but able to take significant heat - posted pics. "Learning looks" were often posted in individual "critique this fit/combo" threads, so there was still scope for a more active approach to iterative learning if you prefer that learning style. It made for a prettier WAYWRN. I appreciate that there is nothing in the stated set-up of WAYWRN to designate this thread for those purposes only; it's just that for a while that was what it evolved into, and it made for a more enjoyable browse. Obviously, it's something broader these days, which is why Manton started the conservative business dress thread for the kind of looks he likes. Actually, I suspect that in time that thread will also acquire a broader range of quality even within that range but for now its cryptic title is off-putting enough to some that the average quality is higher. Sadly, it's not my aesthetic cup of tea as I prefer seeing a bolder but still well-executed look. Anyway, since others have expressed a desire for the thread to return to more photos and less talk, I'll leave it there. These issues have all been hashed over repeatedly anyway and I regret getting sucked back into discussing them. Apologies for the derail.
