Patience, young man. Insofar as silk scarves are concerned, if they are unlined, they are not particularly good insulation, and if they're lined with cashmere, they're going to be beyond your means for some time to come (not a dig - remember, I'm old enough to be your father, I've had time to acquire things). All in good time . . .

Something a bit more relaxed for the end of the working week (and wearing a cap with an overcoat, Liam).

Blazer - BB
Shirt - Tyrwhitt
Tie - Andrew's Ties
PS - no name brand
Cufflinks - Penhaligon's
Trousers - JAB
Shoes - BB Aldens
Overcoat - Joseph Abboud
Scarf - Johnstons of Elgin
Cap - BB

BTW, I decided on the black shoe. Don't worry. Excuse the deer in headlights stare. I left the house at seven AM and got back an hour ago.

I am not the first to requote this photograph.

Nor will I be the last.

Thanx :-)

That damn collar point always rolls...i prefer to call it sprezz, whereas others would call it "bad quality shirt" ;-)

I don't like your jacket lapel. not a fan of that shape. What boots are you wearing? brand and model?

Shoes are from Charles Tyrwhitt, the model is simply called "Jodphur Boot".

Your basic colors - grey trousers, navy jacket, red tie - are not bad in and of themselves. In fact, they are a good choice; they are innocuous, traditional. However, a hard 6-to-1 navy jacket is typically worn as either part of a suit, or a casual blazer. Yours is quite obviously a part of a suit, and looks out of place. You might see the word "orphaned" thrown about here; this is one of those instances.
A basic single-breasted navy sport coat (or blazer) is easy to come by. Thrift stores are full of them. Any of them will look better than what you are wearing in this picture. The sleeves are too short as well.
The brown shoes are quite light and go with nothing. You chose well with the black.
Your tie is classic 80s; try to be classic in a timeless sort of way and look for a solid grenadine or a neat tie with a smaller pattern.
Good luck. I hope you get your funding.

What a constructive and well-measured response, UC.  This is a great forum.  I'll join you in wishing Liam the best in his efforts.

It's seems that our winter will no be a rainy one. But it's cold, so, cashmere v-neck is welcome

The fun part is Liam just got raked over the coals in SW&D, too. I'm not sure I've ever seen anyone get so torched in both places at nearly the same time.

Awesome suit! If only my charcoal was a lighter shade of grey like this I would be very happy.

Spoo, what are your intentions regarding leg opening and break? Do you generally go for a small leg opening and short/no break? Does it float when you walk? Are you okay with that? Break, leg opening, etc. has been one of the trickiest things for me. I started doing no break, but then switched to a little break, but I'm not sure since I generally have a little larger leg opening since my pants are mostly Polo RL by Corneliani.

New suit today but was a bit difficult to photograph. Adjusted the exposure a bit so you guys could comment on the fit. Courtesy of our own B&S forum, polo bradford cut. Color is standard navy pinstripe. I think in the future I am going to get 42rs in this cut. Let me know what you all think. Thanks in advance guys.
