I agree...seems every time i wear the shirt without a tie it looks much better. I just feel strange at work with a nekkid neck. ;)

I've worn it with a solid navy and dark brown tie.

Edit:

Navy

But I was wrong about the dark brown; that was with a light blue gingham shirt.

Maybe it's just because of summer, but I'm seeing a lot more casual fits in this thread. Should those be posted here? The MC Casual thread? Maybe I need a nap.

Gingham is always a tough one for me to combine with a tie. I have a black and a blue gingham shirt -- I use a fairly-basic paisley tie of the same color and they seem to work. The tie you're using in the photos appears to work, but it doesn't give me the, "wow, that looks great" feeling. Otherwise, nice outfit. I like the white buttons on the coat. What type of watch are you wearing?

I pair my red gingham with a black tie with white polka dots....I get compliments every time. Polka dots with gingham is a killer.

Thanks for the compliments...today my watch is a Rolex GMT IIc...probably my favorite watch ive owned in years. :fonz:

Looking good Gaz, Great Shoes.

I do approximately the same when I travel. Simple, conservative combinations, one or two shoes max. All components must be able to work with all other components in terms of color. You never know when you'll have to add a day or two to a trip - or spill something on yourself (I'm a mess), etc. etc. Good to have options for extending the items if the need arises. And I'm just too lazy to travel with 4 pairs of shoes, matching belts, 5 pocket squares, and 12 colors of socks etc. etc.

I've only been to China twice. But In general I believe Chinese business men to be pretty conservative in dress as well - what's your opinion? :D I'm heading to Beijing next month to pitch a new project - enquiring minds want to know.

Unless if you are the Chairman (maomao), Chinese business dress is mainly black or charcoal suits with a white shirt and fairly conservative ties.

This trip I was there for three days actually but only packed three shirts, three ties, one odd jacket, one odd pants and one suit. However, since its a pretty humid summer, almost every office worker wonders around without a jacket.

2 weeks ago I went to Italy on vacation with two pairs of shoes. The pair I'm not wearing has shoe trees in them and I pack a travel shoe care kit.

One of my shoes lost a heel while on route in Switzerland. Luckily, nice shoes are not hard to come by in Italy, so I ended up buying 2 new pairs there.

Lesson learned: next year, I'm bringing only one pair and will buy the rest when over there.

Almost fell for a new suit as well, but I wasn't there long enough for them to make me one.

@Gazman70k: Nice combination! Very classic, you never can go wrong with that!

For airplane travel, I use "travel shoe trees". They're made of plastic and are much lighter than the regular Cedar ones.

You could of course also stuff your shoes with socks to keep them in shape.

He's gotta be str8 Dude, any self respecting gay man wouldn't be seen dead in a shirt like that!! :fonz:

TBH I think his entire outfit looks drop dead gorgeous on him, and I would be proud to wear it myself. The man is creative and I wish I had just a little of his class and style.

Now.... Where did my self assured sexuality and masculinity get to?? :embar:

Damn!!
:lurk:

ha, looks great - but if just one thing were lacking it would be an utter disaster. that thing is chest hair.

I was made for chest hairy looks.

oh my god. I have a shirt almost EXACTLY like that i bought at Saks a few years back. I wore it a few times and put it in the closet. if i recall its Versace V2?

i like the pants man...a lot. who makes em?

Thanks bro. Pants are Tom Ford. They are pink. :)
