HOF: What Are You Wearing Right Now - Part III - Page 1257

post #18841 of 75978

New suit from Ede & Ravenscroft. And some of the worst lighting (and most artificial brightening I've had to do in editing) so sorry for the poor pics.

For the deeply neurotic, or bored, some robotic fit pics in the spoiler below. I am personally very happy indeed. It's probably my favourite bespoke piece from Ede. After some wearing, I may take the trousers in for a little finessing based on the rear photo... but the opening caught on my left shoe, so that side's rippling is down to that. That on my right leg may just be a postural effect in the photo.. In all likelihood, I suspect I will be too lazy to get it adjusted. The sleeve length is a bit longer than SF-approved, but I like it like this. When in motion (eg the photo above), an appropriate amount of linen appears. My shirt happens to be a fraction short in the sleeves making the suit sleeves appear longer than they are IRL. Still, for those who enjoy the internet craft of nitpicking, have fun with these...

@Old Dog
I love everything but the shoe/sock combination O/O. Unless the tie is navy (it appears black on my screen), I think the shoes conflict with the black tie. Love everything else on this fit though.

@Holdfast
That suit is amazing, but are the sleeve just a touch long? Hard to tell with my untrained eye. I need a closeup on those shoes though man! Toes look good enough to see a reflection.

HF - that is without doubt one of the best suits I have seen you in.

The fit is outstanding (from my personal point of view) and the fabric looks great. Sleeve length doesn't look too bad (short shirt sleeves maybe?)

You really do need a better camera wink.gif

What a marvelous suit. Only on the 2nd or 3rd view did I notice that it is a 3 button. I'm sure that this is the kind of fabric that, only on several viewings, reveals the true color and texture.

The pictures showing the side and back view are a tutorial for all to learn as to how a suit should fit and hang. And, these pictures show the importance of the proper length of the coat.

Thanks. I've edited my thoughts re: sleeve length in to the post. It's a fair comment, but I'm personally happy with the length. In fact, at one of the fittings, we debated whether to take them up a further 1/8" but I decided against it. Can always revisit that kind of fractional decision at a later date if I change my mind. I don't think I will, though, it "feels" right as it is. Shoes are humble Loake 1880 Exeters; they take a shine remarkably well and are great in the kind of sleety weather we're currently having.

Thanks. I need more light rather than a better camera, I think. Would you believe there are actually two very large full-length sash windows in the room I take photos in? True story...

Thanks. The fabric is a nice melangey-ish cheviot tweed herringbone. I can't actually remember what book it's from. I think I may have mentioned that somewhere on SF when I ordered it; I'll go search in a sec (edit: no luck, can't find such a post). As for fit, they managed to cope with my awful posture and screwy back just about as well as I think any mortal could.

The new Ede looks very nice, Holdfast. As does the rest of the outfit.

how old do you think the jacket is?

Still probably not as old as the lapels of awesomeness:

Thanks for the kind words. Please note that the snuff brown suede of the shoes and the yellow of the socks echo the same colors in my handkerchief; and the black and white theme of the tie is repeated in the black with white waistband lettering of my undershorts.
