To my untrained eyes the light grey tie gets a litttle lost in the middle of those checks. Maybe a tie in the bolder color of the checks would look better ?
I like the shirt with that suit although it's probably not the most formal, it looks pretty good.
As I said I'm very new to this. It's just my first impression of the picture. The stripes in the suit does not seem to crash at all with the checks.

Thanks. The trousers are indeed cotton and MTM, which helps the fit. Having said that, I think some degree of gathering/bunching is inherent in the material so try to just accept it as a fact of life.

If you're monitor-challenged, the tie is cobalt and the jacket and socks are navy.

Very nice jacket, shirt and tie - they go together well. However: The tie adds enough pop to this outfit on its own IMO, the bright PS makes it a little OTT. Plain white (or even no PS) would have been lovely.

Friday Challenge - funky footwear

Finding funkiness in my shoe collection isn't very easy, but I thought that, of all the shoes I own, these would be the most outre. I was going to make this an all black/grey/white ensemble, but my only grey tie was much too formal for the SC. I am also wearing the dreaded black gabardines, which, I am sure, will garner me some critical jabs.

FWIW, then - let the funk begin . . .

Thank you for the kind comments, but I do think that, after the next few wearings, I'll let my tailor take a look at yesterday's suit, and see what alterations can be made - yesterday's photos are a bit boxy (and I am boxy enough without assistance from my suits).

First off, kudos for making as bold a choice as you have with your shirt - that shirt is really a departure from your usual style, and it's good to see you try new things. However, I think that the shirt might be shown to better advantage with a plain light or medium grey suit, and a solid navy tie, but that's just me.

SC might be a bit structured(just the right arm/maybe the stance/angle) in the shoulder for the SF crowd, however, this is a GREAT look from head to toe!
