Never mind the tie, what's the jacket? Looks like a perfect shade of medium - light gray flannel, not too thick and 'felty' - care to chime in UC?

With all the wisdom I've gleaned here, I decided it was time to run the gauntlet myself.

As a caveat, I will try to do better with the picture quality in future posts. I always wondered why so many member's photos are lousy; now I understand that there is an art to this.

Anyhow...

Details:

The suit is made by Majer. Evidently this is a now-defunct American company from Long Island. Top quality stuff: fully canvassed, nice details, etc. I realize the pants are tad too long and could use some tapering, but my tailoring budget is small.

I can't tell what brand the shoes are; any identifying marks have rubbed off. I have been around long enough to know they are high quality, at least. I thrifted them (as I do practically everything I wear) for $4.00. At that point they were in horrible condition. I stripped the leather with acetone (to the point of being almost pink!) and redyed them with alternating layers of Mahogany and British Tan. Then I put numerous different shades of shoe creme to give them "character" or whatever.

It's hard to tell in the photo, but in the sunlight they are the most interesting mix of chocolate, tan, and burgundy; if not for the wrinkles, I think they could pass for cordovan. It turned out well for a first try.

Cheers!

Agreed. It's worse in the photo, but the gentleman who owned the suit before me must have had a penchant for bell-bottoms.

Thanks everyone for your comments.

SOme have asked for a full length shot. I am afraid that would be difficult. Wife gives me a look whenever I take these pics, if I set up a tripod and timer, it will be a full on uhoh.gif

Holdfast, I dont understand why you dont like the tie. Its pretty innocuous
