Today, I am wearing a Prada black velvet suit, black shirt, deep blue-green Paul Smith tie and black ostrich belly cowboy boots. Just because I can. smile.gif

I tend to concur with this view - a three-piece suit looks better (and fits better) with braces rather than a belt, though there are practical considerations that mitigate this (certain biological functions take a bit more lead time if one is wearing braces, a waistcoat, and a watch chain - trust me on this one).

I absolutely concur, however, that, if one does wear a belt with a three-piece suit, that the belt should be invisible while one is standing (i.e. that the waistcoat should be long enough to hide the waistband completely), though there seems to be some marketers of three-piece suits for the young and slender who seem to like making the waistcoats too short for this purpose. Why (and why the buyers of such suits think that this looks OK) is beyond my ken.

Braces made me a believer in that little trap door on the front of underwear.

I think the issue is that the trousers are low-rise, so even a properly long waistcoat won't reach the waistband. This seems to be the case with the outfit in question.

I bought an older three piece that had a shorter vest. While no one else noticed it was too short (at least, had the decency not to comment) it always bothered me. It doesn't help that I have pretty long torso.
