Thanks, I agree. I tried not buttoning the top button of suit 1, but it made it look even worse.

Thank you, that is one of my favorite ties. It is a red 7 fold silk tie with a very soft sheen that looks dark pink or red depending on how the light hits it.

Do you think suit 1 is a lost cause? It is a rather expensive Isaia suit and I hate to just toss it.

I am about 6', 225#, and wear a size 46 jacket. I'm not svelte, therefore not a lot of waist suppression in the jackets.
I know the pants are too long, but I would like overall opinion on fit of the suits, and which seems to look better on me.
I appreciate any, and all, constructive feedback.

No, not at all! I think, maybe, if you undid the top button, fixed the trousers, and paired it with a better tie, it would work! It's just when you compare it to the second one, it's not as great! (I know that's not what you want to hear! tongue.gif)

Would have been more awesome with a regular tie. I just find bow-ties very costume-like.

Thanks Dave, SC is Ercoles, Zegna hopsack-like fabric, and part of a SF "controversial" 3 piece suit. Everytime I wear it as a SC, I hear "Too suity" and when I suit it up, especially with the vest, I hear, "too informal". Can't win em all I guess.smile.gif
