Thanks for the kind words, I'm a work in progress. My generation sees good quality clothing as a dying art, but I prefer quality over quantity.

I'd say your lapels are a little skinny for my taste, and if you do want to go with lapels that skinny, go with a skinnier tie and maybe even bring in the shoulders a little (although it's hard to tell from this one pic). I'd also say go a little easy on the colors for your tie, but that's to personal taste I guess.

Also on the jacket: it may just be the way that you're standing, but looks like the shoulder line isn't really smooth. It may be that you need the collar lowered to take care of that. But again, might just be how you're standing. See if you can somehow look at the back, either by using mirrors or getting someone else to look or take a picture, and see if there is horizontal pulling near the collar.
I chuckled at the first stab but the second one was uncalled for, if you think I look young wouldn't you try to act like a grown up and give positive criticism not just call me out.

The jacket is an unstructured cotton which makes even the slightest ripple look really apparent, and I have broad shoulders from working out and playing soccer which makes it hard to find an OTR jacket that fits really well in the shoulders and chest. (Any input on how to fix this would be appreciated) I agree with the tie to jacket proportions which is why I previously went with the knit but I don't currently have the funding for a new jacket at the moment. As for the tie, I like to wear some pretty wild shit sometimes and I might as well get away with it while I'm young. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif I'll try to get a picture of the back of the jacket but thanks a lot for the advice.

Correct, the flag originated at LSU but has since also found its way to East Carolina.

I see the rebel flag as a heritage not hate deal. My ancestors fought to protect where I'm from and died under the flag, I don't mean to offend anyone. I also don't think its even remotely comparative to a swastika.

Thanks for the comments,

I find it amusing that you think the Confederate flag has any connotation remotely similar to a swastika.

I am young like you, with a similar problem. Broad shoulders from exercise with a very, very slim waist. Don't stop with just buying the OTR jacket. Go to a tailor. There's nothing wrong with recognizing that MTM is out of your price range, but there's also nothing preventing you from dropping $60 at a tailor to have the waist, collar, and sleeves adjusted to your body. It'll make a world of difference.

Look, Southern boys seem to have no problem whatsoever with reppin' the Confederacy 'til the day they die, it's part of the Southern gentleman's thing . . . but the reality of it is that there are many very intelligent, reasonable people (not the inane crowd who cry "racism!" at any instance) who to this day will still find that offensive because they see it for something larger than you do because it affected and still affects them, their family, and their lives even now in a larger way than you will ever personally experience. To me, it's a matter of finding the way to offend the fewest people, so I generally err on the side of caution with matters like these. Live and let learn, I say.

Seriously, the break on those look like the honeycombing on the back of the knees on APCs before the first wash . . .

If you read the states' own declarations of secession, you'll see that the preservation of slavery was the cause of their secession. Your ancestors fought to protect the right to keep some of my ancestors as property.

Quiet a good, bold outfit for you. As somebody else said, a slightly narrower tie would be more in fashion. In all a very good effort.

Right. People should learn their history before BSing about their "heritage".

Love the shoes, but the outfit is bland overall b/c it is lacking in contrast.

+1, or wear with a more appropriate (for that) outfit, like seersucker or something. looks strange with the dark sc.
