can i get screwed?

i just listed a brand new sealed ipad 2 64gb white verizon for 1200 on ebay. it sold in minutes to a guy with zero feedback from maine. What kind of risk am i taking by shipping it to a new user? can he file a chargeback and screw me easily?

Insure it and ask for a sig, then transfer all your money from paypal to your bank account and when it's transferred remove the bank account from paypal. Don't ship right away. Wait until the bank has the money.

problem is im still selling stuff, so money can come in at any time, plus i think he can file a chargeback in a month from now if he wants.

Doesn't Ebay have an option against selling to questionable buyers with zero rep or buyers from overseas?

I wouldn't risk it and simply relist it and sell it to someone with a more reputable history.

use UPS which shows signature confirmation online and insure it for the full value. IIRC, paypal's seller protection will take over if anything happens...but they're very unreliable, so not sure if I'd be comfortable with that...

If you require a signature and insure it aren't you covered? I don't know much about this stuff but it would seem to me that the buyer can't say they never got it or that the seller never shipped it if they have signed for it. What else could the buyer say?

I want to start selling on eBay but it seems like there are too many risks.

I've sold $400 Tramezzas to zero rep people and had no problems. Kind of a punk move to back out.

Next time clearly state in the description that you won't sell to low rep buyers.

I sold 10 Ipad 2 16GB's for $6500 - kinda feel bad that I raped the guy so bad
The buyers, espescially out of the US - are desperate to get their hands on the Ipad 2's...

Most of these people don't know what they're talking about.

Yes you can get screwed, very easily. Here's where he'll screw you though....not with a chargeback but claiming nothing is in the box and there's NO WAY you can prove there was anything in there. I've known people to FILM the postal employee sealing the box with the item inside and paying and leaving. They submitted it to Paypal for their case when the buyer claimed he was shipped an empty box and Paypal STILL took the buyer's side as 'the seller could have known the postal employee and this was a set up'. I don't know how that may of stood up legally but just with Paypal's side of things, they refunded the buyer. As far as they're concerned you may of shipped a brick inside the box. It happens all the time and the buyer 99.9% of the time will win. Doesn't matter if you've been an established Paypal user for years and he just created his account.

Don't risk it. Seriously, it happens way more than you think it does. It usually happens on items like an iPad that are VERY easy to flip locally or to a pawn shop. Not something like a pair of Ferragamos.
