Shanghai Meet-Up

I'll be in Shanghai on the evening of the 8th. Kent Wang suggested we have a meet-up. I am staying at the Bund on Guangdong Road. I'm sure they have a bar, or if there's a better suggestion in the area, show me a map or give me directions in Chinese for a cabbie. I suggest we meet around 8 p.m. if that works?

Let me know who's in.

Hmmm... we could do dinner and drinks. I think I'm getting a massage and wandering up to some mall on Gmaps I found to see if Uniqlo sells anything in China that will fit an average sized white man, but I could make myself available at 6 p.m.

Kent, any suggestions in that area?

Presumably you want to go to the Uniqlo flagship on Huaihai Zhong Lu. For dinner, we can do to Fu 1088, which is a traditional Shanghai cuisine restaurant, though there is a required minimum spend of ¥300 ($45) per head. Food is good, and last time I went we managed to barely hit the minimum. Terrible wine list, as is typical of Chinese restaurants. Fairly close to Uniqlo. If you want some good wine with your Chinese meal, then the only option I'm aware of is Lotus, which is Hubei cuisine and quite excellent. I'm not sure whether you're insistent on having Shanghai cuisine in Shanghai. ¥30 ($4.50) cab ride from Uniqlo. For drinks afterwards, we can do Mesa/Manifesto if it's not too busy, or Apothecary.

Kent, sounds great. 6 p.m. at Fu 1088?

I have this address:

375 Zhenning Lu,
镇宁路375号

I'll print that and a map I found on the site below, and show it to a taxi.

Will you reserve a table under your name or...

Uniqlo globe flag store is on West Nanjing Road/ North Maoming Road 南京西路/茂名北路.
I might not be able to attend the meetup but if you need any suggestions/helps just let me know.

Unjung: Looks like it'll just be you, me, and my girlfriend. I'll take care of the arrangements and will PM you. If anybody else wants in, post in this thread and I'll update the reservation.

Good luck. Seems the restaurant has a lot of positive reviews. But it is not traditional local cuisine I am quite sure.

No problem, I will be getting lots of traditional cuisine during the remainder of my trip. Kent, I look forward to hanging out with you and your girlfriend.
